5. Setup
Before first use, ensure the Truck PAC ES1224 is fully charged. Locate the charging port on the unit and connect the appropriate charging adapter (not included in the "What's in the Box" list, but typically supplied with the unit or purchased separately). Allow sufficient time for a full charge, indicated by the "CHARGE COMPLETE" light on the unit.
6. Operating Instructions: Jump Starting a Vehicle
Follow these steps carefully to jump start a vehicle:
- Prepare the Vehicle: Ensure the vehicle to be jump started is in "Park" or "Neutral" with the ignition off. Engage the parking brake.
- Select Voltage: On the Truck PAC ES1224 unit, turn the knob to select either "12V System" or "24V System" to match the vehicle's battery voltage.
- Connect Clamps:
- Connect the RED (+) "Hot Jaw" clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the vehicle's discharged battery.
- Connect the BLACK (-) "Hot Jaw" clamp to a solid, unpainted metal part of the vehicle's chassis or engine block, away from the battery and fuel lines. Do NOT connect directly to the negative (-) terminal of the discharged battery unless specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Check ADW: Observe the Advanced Warning System (ADW) indicators on the unit. If any warnings are present, address them before proceeding.
- Start Vehicle: Attempt to start the vehicle. If the vehicle does not start immediately, wait a few minutes before trying again to allow the jump starter to recover. Do not crank for more than 5-8 seconds at a time.
- Disconnect Clamps: Once the vehicle starts, disconnect the clamps in reverse order: first the BLACK (-) clamp from the chassis, then the RED (+) clamp from the battery terminal.

7. Charging the Truck PAC ES1224
To ensure optimal performance and longevity, keep your Truck PAC ES1224 fully charged. Recharge the unit after each use and at least once every three months if not in regular use. Connect the appropriate charging adapter to the unit's charging port and plug it into a standard AC outlet. The "CHARGING" indicator will illuminate during charging, and the "CHARGE COMPLETE" indicator will light up when the unit is fully charged.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Keep the unit clean and dry. Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Ensure clamps are free of corrosion and debris.
- Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure cables are neatly wrapped and clamps are securely stored in their designated holders.
- Battery Care: Regularly check the charge status and recharge as recommended to prevent deep discharge, which can shorten battery life.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit does not power on. | Battery is fully discharged. | Charge the unit completely. |
| Vehicle does not start. | Incorrect voltage selection; poor clamp connection; severely discharged vehicle battery. | Verify 12V/24V selection; ensure clamps are clean and securely connected; allow more time for the unit to transfer charge before attempting to start. |
| ADW (Advanced Warning System) activates. | Indicates an unsafe condition (e.g., reverse polarity, short circuit). | Immediately disconnect clamps and re-evaluate connections. Consult vehicle manual for specific battery terminal locations. |
