Operating Instructions
Powering On and Off
To power on the device, press the ON button. To power off, press the OFF button. The detector will perform a self-diagnostic check upon startup.
Understanding the Control Panel
The easy-to-read LCD display provides crucial information about detected targets:
- Probable Target: Indicates the likely type of metal detected (Iron, Aluminum, Zinc, 5¢, Coins).
- Depth Indicator: Shows the approximate depth of the target (Shallow, Medium, Deep).
- Low Battery Indicator: Alerts you when batteries need replacement.

Adjusting Depth Sensitivity
Use the DEPTH SELECT button to cycle through Shallow, Medium, and Deep settings. This allows you to optimize detection based on your search environment and desired target depth.
Target Discrimination (Reject Function)
The TARGET REJECT button allows you to filter out unwanted metal types. Pressing this button will cycle through different rejection settings, enabling you to focus on valuable finds and ignore common trash metals like iron.

Effective Searching Technique
For accurate detection, sweep the search coil in a continuous, steady motion. The detector will only alert you to targets when it is in motion. The 3-tone audio feedback helps distinguish between different metal types before digging.

Maintenance and Care
- Keep the Control Box Dry: The control box is not waterproof. Protect it from moisture and rain.
- Clean the Search Coil: After use, especially in wet or sandy conditions, clean the search coil with fresh water and a soft cloth.
- Battery Replacement: Replace 9V batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD display.
- Storage: Store the detector in a dry, cool place when not in use.
Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure 9V batteries are correctly installed and fully charged.
- Erratic Signals/False Alarms: This can be caused by electromagnetic interference from power lines or other electronic devices. Try moving to a different location. Adjusting the ground balance or discrimination settings may also help.
- Low Battery Indicator: Replace both 9V batteries promptly to ensure optimal performance.
- No Detection: Ensure the search coil is in motion while sweeping. Check that the discrimination settings are not too high, potentially rejecting desired targets.
