2. Setup
2.1. Unpacking and Placement
Carefully remove the SA-3 amplifier from its packaging. Place the amplifier in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture. The compact design allows for flexible placement, including on a shelf, on the floor, or mounted to a wall or floor joist.
2.2. Connecting Speakers
The SA-3 amplifier is designed to power high-performance Bose speakers, such as 251 environmental speakers, Free Space 51 environmental speakers, Acoustimass 5 speakers, and 301 Direct/Reflecting speakers. Connect your speakers to the appropriate speaker terminals on the rear of the SA-3 amplifier. Ensure correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative) for optimal sound quality.
2.3. Connecting to a Lifestyle System (Bose link)
To integrate the SA-3 amplifier with your Bose Lifestyle system, connect the amplifier to the Bose link output on your Lifestyle media center using the single cable provided. This connection enables multi-room audio functionality.
2.4. Connecting External Audio Sources
You can connect additional audio sources, such as a TV or a separate CD player, directly to the SA-3 amplifier's auxiliary input. Use appropriate RCA audio cables for these connections.
3. Operating
3.1. Powering On/Off
The SA-3 amplifier is designed to be controlled by a Bose Lifestyle remote control (sold separately). There is no manual on/off switch on the unit itself. Use the dedicated Lifestyle expansion remote control to power the amplifier on or off.
3.2. Controlling Audio
Adjust the volume and select audio sources using your Lifestyle expansion remote control. The amplifier automatically adjusts tonal balance for high-quality sound performance.
3.3. Mono Output Option
For speakers placed very far apart, the SA-3 amplifier offers a mono output option. Refer to your Lifestyle system's manual for instructions on activating this feature.
4. Maintenance
4.1. Cleaning
To clean the amplifier, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays, as these may damage the finish or internal components.
4.2. Storage
If storing the amplifier for an extended period, disconnect it from the power outlet and store it in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
