3. Setup Instructions

  1. Power Connection: Connect the mixer to a standard AC power outlet using the provided power cable. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting.
  2. Input Connections:
    • For microphones, connect balanced XLR cables to the desired input channels on the rear panel.
    • For line-level sources, use appropriate TRS or XLR cables to connect to the input channels.
    • If using microphones requiring phantom power, locate the individual phantom power switches for each channel on the rear panel and set them to ON. The phantom power LED on the front panel will illuminate.
    • The Aux input on the front panel can be used for additional line-level sources.
  3. Output Connections: Connect the main outputs (XLR or TRS) to your amplifier, recording device, or sound system.
  4. Headphone Connection: For monitoring, connect headphones to the front-panel headphone jack.
  5. Linking Multiple Mixers (Optional): To expand the system, connect the LINK OUT of one SCM800 to the LINK IN of another SCM800 using a compatible cable. This allows for up to 32 microphone and line-level inputs.
  6. Initial Power On: After all connections are secure, switch the power ON.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Input Level Adjustment: For each active input channel, slowly turn the corresponding input level knob clockwise until the desired signal level is achieved. Monitor the signal level indicators to avoid clipping.
  2. Master Level Control: Adjust the MASTER level knob to control the overall output volume of the mixer.
  3. Equalization (EQ): Each channel features adjustable EQ.
    • Use the low-frequency rolloff to reduce unwanted bass frequencies.
    • Use the high-frequency shelving to adjust the treble response.
  4. Output Limiter: The SCM800 includes a peak-responding output limiter to prevent signal distortion. The LIMITER LED on the front panel will illuminate when the limiter is active. Adjust input levels to minimize limiter activation for optimal sound quality.
  5. Headphone Monitoring: Use the PHONES level control to adjust the volume for headphone monitoring without affecting the main output.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Shure SCM800 mixer.
