Introduction
The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus is an advanced isolated power supply designed for guitar and bass effects pedals. It provides clean, consistent power to ensure optimal performance and eliminate unwanted noise from your pedalboard. Each of its eight outputs is completely isolated, short-circuit protected, regulated, and highly filtered, offering superior power delivery compared to standard daisy-chain power solutions.
This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Pedal Power 2 Plus, ensuring you get the most out of this essential piece of equipment.
Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or damage to the unit or connected equipment.
- Power Source: Connect the unit only to a 120VAC power outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the requirements specified on the unit.
- Do Not Open: To prevent electric shock, do not remove the cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Moisture: Do not expose the unit to rain or moisture. Do not use near water or in damp locations.
- Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the unit. Do not block ventilation openings.
- Cables: Use only the provided power cord and appropriate DC cables. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on.
- Overload: Do not overload the outputs. Ensure the current draw of your pedals does not exceed the specified output current for each port.

Setup and Installation
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the Pedal Power 2 Plus and all accessories from its packaging. Verify that all included cables are present.
- Placement: Place the Pedal Power 2 Plus on a stable, flat surface, preferably on your pedalboard. Ensure adequate airflow around the unit.
- AC Power Connection: Connect the detachable AC power cord to the AC input on the rear of the Pedal Power 2 Plus. Plug the other end into a grounded 120VAC wall outlet. The red LED on the front panel will illuminate, indicating power is supplied.
- Configuring Outputs (DIP Switches):
The bottom of the Pedal Power 2 Plus features DIP switches for each output. These switches allow you to configure the voltage and current for specific pedal requirements. Refer to the table below for common settings:
Output DIP Switch Setting Description 1-4 NORMAL (OFF) Standard 9V (100mA max) for most common pedals. 1-4 ON 12V (100mA max) for specific 12V pedals. 5-6 NORMAL (OFF) Standard 9V (250mA max) for higher current 9V pedals. 5-6 ON Line 6 (9V, 250mA max) for Line 6 modeling pedals (DL4, MM4, etc.). 7-8 NORMAL (OFF) Standard 9V (100mA max) with variable sag control. 7-8 ON 4V-9V (100mA max) with variable sag control for specific vintage-style pedals. Important: Always set the DIP switches for each output before connecting your pedals to avoid damage. Consult your pedal's manual for its specific power requirements (voltage and current draw).
- Connecting Pedals: Use the appropriate DC power cables (included) to connect your effects pedals to the configured outputs on the Pedal Power 2 Plus. Ensure the polarity matches your pedal's requirements (standard center-negative).
Operating Instructions
Once the Pedal Power 2 Plus is connected to AC power and your pedals are properly connected to the outputs, the unit is ready for operation. The Pedal Power 2 Plus operates continuously when plugged in, providing stable power to your effects.
Using the Sag Controls (Outputs 7 & 8)
Outputs 7 and 8 feature unique variable voltage sag controls. These allow you to simulate the sound of a dying carbon battery, which can produce unique tonal characteristics in certain analog pedals, particularly fuzz, overdrive, and wah pedals.
- Ensure the DIP switch for output 7 or 8 is set to the desired sag range (NORMAL for 9V sag, ON for 4V-9V sag).
- Connect a compatible pedal to the output.
- Turn the corresponding sag knob (located on the front panel next to outputs 7 and 8) to adjust the voltage. Turning the knob clockwise increases the voltage (closer to 9V), while turning it counter-clockwise decreases the voltage (simulating a dying battery).
- Experiment with different sag settings to find the desired tonal effect for your pedal.
Auxiliary AC Outlet
The auxiliary AC outlet on the rear panel can be used to power other AC-powered devices, such as a wah pedal, a tuner, or another power supply. This outlet is not isolated and shares the same AC input as the Pedal Power 2 Plus. Do not exceed the maximum wattage rating for this outlet (refer to specifications).
Maintenance
The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus is designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Disconnect the unit from AC power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect it from power and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all power cables for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Pedal Power 2 Plus, try the following troubleshooting steps:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power to unit (red LED off) | AC power cord not connected or wall outlet is dead. | Ensure AC cord is securely connected. Test wall outlet with another device. |
| Pedal not powering on | Incorrect DIP switch setting, faulty DC cable, pedal requires more current than output provides, or pedal is faulty. | Verify DIP switch settings for the pedal. Try a different DC cable. Check pedal's current draw against output rating. Test pedal with a battery if possible. |
| Excessive noise/hum | Ground loop, faulty cable, or pedal issue. | Ensure all pedals are connected to isolated outputs. Try different cables. Test pedals individually to isolate the source of noise. |
| Sag control not working | DIP switch for output 7 or 8 not set correctly. | Ensure the DIP switch for the corresponding output is set to the ON position for sag functionality. |
If problems persist after attempting these steps, please contact Voodoo Lab customer support for assistance.
