Introduction

The DigiTech BP80 is a versatile Bass Modeling multi-effects processor designed for bassists seeking a wide range of tones and effects. Powered by DigiTech’s AudioDNA™ DSP processor, it offers 16 bass amp and stompbox models, along with numerous other effects to craft your unique sound. Its integrated expression pedal allows for real-time control over various parameters, enhancing performance flexibility.

The BP80 features an intuitive interface for easy effect editing. It also includes a built-in Drum Machine for timing practice and a precise 13-LED chromatic tuner. The unit comes pre-loaded with 40 factory presets and provides 40 user preset locations for custom configurations.

Setup

Before operating your BP80, ensure all connections are made correctly and securely. Use only the provided power supply to prevent damage.

  1. Power Connection: Connect the included 9V DC power supply to the "9VDC 300mA" input jack on the rear panel of the BP80. Plug the power supply into a standard AC outlet.
  2. Instrument Input: Connect your bass guitar to the "INPUT" 1/4" jack on the rear panel using a standard instrument cable.
  3. Output to Amplifier/Mixer: Connect the "LEFT OUT" and/or "RIGHT OUT" 1/4" jacks to your bass amplifier, mixer, or audio interface. For mono operation, use the "LEFT OUT" jack.
  4. Headphone Output: For silent practice, connect a pair of stereo headphones to the "1/8" stereo headphone output" jack.

Once all connections are made, the BP80 is ready to be powered on. The unit will display the current preset number.

Controls Overview

Preset Navigation

The BP80 comes with 40 factory presets (01-40) and 40 user presets (41-80). Use the footswitches to scroll through presets. Press the left footswitch to decrease the preset number and the right footswitch to increase it.

Effect Editing

To edit an effect within a preset:

  1. Press the EDIT/EFFECT buttons to cycle through the available effect categories (e.g., Chorus/Mod, Noise Gate, EQ, Delay, Reverb, Compressor, Fretless/Wah, Amp Model, Stompbox Model). The selected category will be indicated on the display.
  2. Once an effect category is selected, use the VALUE/MASTER VOLUME buttons to adjust the parameters within that effect. The display will show the parameter value.
  3. The BP80 features 16 bass amp and stompbox models, and 19 studio-quality effects. Experiment with different settings to achieve your desired tone.

Saving Presets

After editing a preset, you can save your changes to one of the 40 user preset locations (41-80):

  1. Press the STORE button. The display will flash, indicating it's ready to save.
  2. Use the footswitches to select the desired user preset location (41-80).
  3. Press the STORE button again to confirm and save the preset.
