1. Ensure both shut-off valves on the hoses are open.
2. Submerge the intake pipe fully into the aquarium water.

Water will begin to flow from the aquarium, through the filter, and into the bucket. Once water flows steadily, quickly place the output hose end back into the aquarium (e.g., connect to the spray bar).
   • Fill Method: Carefully fill the filter canister with treated aquarium water before securing the pump head. Then, open the valves and allow gravity to fill the hoses.
4. Once the filter canister and hoses are filled with water and no large air bubbles are visible, plug the filter into a grounded electrical outlet.
5. The filter should start operating. If you hear gurgling noises, gently rock the filter from side to side to help trapped air escape through the output.
