Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety. Retain this manual for future reference.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in fire, electric shock, or other injury or damage.

  • Ensure all electrical connections comply with local codes and regulations. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
  • Do not operate the screen with a damaged power cord or plug.
  • Mount the screen securely to a structurally sound surface capable of supporting its weight. Improper installation can lead to the screen falling.
  • Keep hands and objects clear of the screen surface and housing during operation.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the screen motor or electrical components. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • This product is intended for indoor use only.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the screen from its packaging. Inspect the screen for any signs of damage during transit. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or if the product needs to be returned.

3.2 Mounting the Screen

The Da-Lite Cosmopolitan Electrol screen is designed for ceiling-mounted installation. It features a tensioning system to ensure a flat viewing surface. Proper installation is critical for safety and optimal performance.

  • Identify a suitable mounting location on a ceiling joist or other structurally sound support. The mounting surface must be capable of supporting the screen's weight (approximately 59 pounds).
  • Measure and mark the mounting points accurately to ensure the screen is level and centered.
  • Use appropriate fasteners (not included) for your specific ceiling material. Consult a professional installer if you are unsure about the mounting process or structural integrity.
  • Attach the screen housing securely to the marked mounting points. Ensure all mounting hardware is tightened properly.

3.3 Electrical Connection

Connect the screen's power cord to a standard, grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet provides the correct voltage as specified on the screen's label. If a hardwired installation is desired, it must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with all applicable electrical codes.

4. Operation

The Cosmopolitan Electrol screen features an integrated motor for smooth and quiet operation. Control is typically managed via a wall switch or an optional remote control (sold separately).

  1. Extend Screen: Press the 'DOWN' button on your control interface to lower the screen. The screen will automatically stop at its pre-set lower limit.
  2. Retract Screen: Press the 'UP' button on your control interface to raise the screen. The screen will automatically stop at its pre-set upper limit.
  3. Stop Screen: Press the 'STOP' button at any time to halt the screen's movement at the desired position.

The screen's upper and lower limits are factory-set. Do not attempt to manually force the screen beyond these limits, as this can damage the motor and screen mechanism.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your projection screen.

5.1 Screen Surface Cleaning

The Matte White screen surface can be cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with mild soap and water. Gently wipe the screen surface. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the viewing surface. Do not scrub or apply excessive pressure, which could stretch or crease the material.

5.2 Casing Cleaning

The screen casing can be wiped clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Ensure no moisture enters the motor housing.

5.3 Inspection

Periodically inspect the power cord for any signs of fraying or damage. Check all mounting hardware to ensure it remains secure. If any damage is observed, discontinue use and contact customer support.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your screen, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Screen does not move:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a functional electrical outlet.
    • Verify that the circuit breaker has not tripped.
    • If using a remote control, check its batteries.
  • Screen stops mid-operation:
    • Ensure there are no obstructions preventing the screen's movement.
    • The motor may have an overheating protection feature. Allow it to cool down for 15-20 minutes before attempting operation again.
  • Uneven screen surface or ripples:
    • Ensure the screen housing is mounted perfectly level.
    • Minor ripples may be present initially and often dissipate with regular use and temperature stabilization.

If the problem persists after attempting these steps, contact Da-Lite customer support for assistance.
