Game Components
The Monopoly National Parks Edition includes all the necessary components for gameplay, with a unique national parks theme:
- Game Board: Featuring National Parks as properties, replacing traditional streets.
- Title Deed Cards: Corresponding to each National Park property.
- Money: Themed Monopoly currency.
- Chance Cards: Themed for National Park adventures.
- Community Chest Cards: Themed for National Park community events.
- Playing Pieces (Tokens): Six collectible pewter tokens including a bear, hiking boot, cannon, ranger hat, backpacker, covered wagon, tent, and canoe.
- Campsites and Lodges: Replacing houses and hotels for property development.
- Dice: Two standard dice.
Setup
Follow these steps to prepare for your game:
- Unfold the Game Board: Place the game board on a flat surface.
- Separate Cards: Shuffle the Chance cards and place them face down on their designated space on the board. Do the same for the Community Chest cards. Place Title Deed cards next to their corresponding properties on the board.
- Banker Selection: One player is chosen as the Banker. The Banker is responsible for all money, Title Deeds, Campsites, and Lodges not yet owned by players. The Banker may also play, but must keep their personal funds separate from the Bank.
- Initial Money Distribution: Each player receives a starting amount of Monopoly money from the Bank. Refer to the specific rulebook for exact amounts.
- Choose Tokens: Each player selects one of the unique playing pieces and places it on the "GO" space.
- Campsites and Lodges: Place the Campsites and Lodges near the board, ready for purchase.
Operating Instructions (Gameplay)
The game proceeds in turns, with players rolling dice and moving their tokens around the board. The goal is to acquire properties and develop them to collect rent from other players, ultimately driving opponents into bankruptcy.
Player Turn Sequence:
- Roll Dice: The player rolls two dice and moves their token clockwise around the board the number of spaces indicated.
- Action Based on Space: The action taken depends on the space landed on:
- Unowned National Park: The player may buy the property from the Bank for its printed price. If they decline, the property is auctioned to the highest bidder.
- Owned National Park: The player must pay rent to the owner. Rent increases with the number of Campsites or Lodges built on the property.
- Trail: Similar to Railroads, landing on a Trail requires paying a fee to its owner.
- Chance or Community Chest: Draw a card and follow its instructions.
- Go: Passing or landing on "GO" earns the player a salary from the Bank.
- Go to Jail: Move directly to Jail.
- Free Parking: No action required.
- Doubles: If a player rolls doubles, they take their turn as usual and then roll again. Three consecutive doubles send the player to Jail.
- Buying Campsites/Lodges: Players can buy Campsites and Lodges for their owned National Parks during their turn, provided they own all properties in a color group.
- Trading: Players can trade properties, money, Campsites, and Lodges with other players at any time.
Winning the Game:
The game ends when only one player remains solvent. All other players who have gone bankrupt are out of the game.
