Setup

Powering the Device

The WM-FX290 operates on a single AA battery (not included). To install the battery, open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the unit. Insert one AA battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-), then close the cover securely.

Connecting Headphones

Connect the supplied stereo headphones (MDR-023) or any compatible 3.5mm stereo headphones into the headphone jack. For optimal sound quality, ensure the plug is fully inserted.

Operating Instructions

Cassette Playback

  1. To open the cassette compartment, slide the OPEN switch.
  2. Insert a cassette tape with the exposed tape facing towards the unit.
  3. Close the cassette compartment cover firmly.
  4. Press the PLAY button to begin playback.
  5. Use the FAST FORWARD (FFWD) or REWIND (REW) buttons to navigate through the tape.
  6. Press the STOP button to halt playback.
  7. To eject the tape, press the STOP button and then slide the OPEN switch.

Radio Operation (FM/AM/TV/Weather)

  1. Slide the band selector switch to select FM, AM, TV, or Weather band.
  2. Use the TUNING dial to manually search for stations.
  3. To store a station as a preset, tune to the desired station, then press and hold the SET button until the preset number flashes. Use the PRESET/TUNING buttons to select a preset number, then press SET again to confirm.
  4. The unit features 40 station presets (7 TV / 4 WB / 24 FM / 5 AM).
  5. Utilize the FM Local/Distant (DX) switch for improved reception of nearby or far-away stations.

Sound Adjustment

The Mega Bass sound system can be activated or deactivated to enhance low-frequency audio. The Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS) automatically adjusts music passages that vary widely in volume, improving listening comfort and protecting hearing.
