Operating Instructions

Basic Stopwatch Functions

  • Start/Stop: Press the START STOP button to begin timing. Press it again to pause or stop the timer.
  • Lap/Split Time: While the stopwatch is running, press the LAP/SPLIT RESET button to record a lap or split time. The display shows three lines: split time, lap time, and running time.
  • Reset: After stopping the timer, press the LAP/SPLIT RESET button to clear the current timing data and prepare for a new measurement.
  • Clear Memory: Press the CLEAR button to erase all stored memory data.

Memory Functions

The S149 can store and recall up to 300 split/lap times, segregated by event.

  • Recall: Press the RECALL button to view stored lap and split times. Use the navigation buttons (if available, typically associated with A/S SET or TIME) to scroll through the memory.
  • User ID Function: The device includes a user ID function to separate data, allowing for organized storage of multiple event results. Refer to the on-screen prompts or specific button combinations for setting and utilizing user IDs.

Printing Functions

The integrated thermal printer can print 13 digits per line at a speed of 1.5 lines per second.

  • Printing Times: Lap or split times can be printed as a block. The device typically prints automatically when a lap/split is recorded, or there may be a dedicated print button (often combined with other functions like A/S SET or TIME).
  • Auto Start Function: The S149 features an auto start function, which can be configured to begin timing automatically under certain conditions. Consult the device's display or button combinations for activation.

Time and Calendar Display

The device can display the current time and calendar. Use the TIME button or mode selection to switch to time display mode. Settings for time and date are typically adjusted using the A/S SET button in conjunction with other controls.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Avoid exposing the device to excessive moisture.

Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the display dims or the unit fails to power on. For the main battery, professional replacement may be recommended due to potential complexity. Printer batteries are typically user-replaceable.

Paper Roll Replacement

When the paper roll is depleted, replace it with a new thermal paper roll as described in the Setup section. Ensure you use thermal paper compatible with the S149 printer.

Troubleshooting

  • Device does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted.
  • Display is dim or blank: Replace batteries.
  • Printer not printing:
    • Ensure paper roll is correctly installed and not depleted.
    • Verify that thermal paper is being used (standard paper will not work).
    • In cold environments (below 0°C / 32°F), thermal printing performance may be significantly reduced or cease entirely. Operate the device within recommended temperature ranges.
  • Incorrect time or date: Adjust settings using the TIME and A/S SET buttons as per the operating instructions.
  • Memory recall issues: Ensure memory has not been cleared. If issues persist, try clearing memory and re-testing.
