BIC America Venturi DV64 2-Way Tower Speaker User Manual

Model: DV64

Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your BIC America Venturi DV64 2-Way Tower Speaker. Designed for high-performance audio, this speaker can be used in traditional stereo setups or as a front speaker in a surround sound system. Please read these instructions carefully to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your speaker.

Setup

Unpacking

Carefully remove the speaker from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage.

Placement

For optimal sound quality, place the DV64 speakers on a stable, level surface. Ensure adequate space around the speakers for proper ventilation and sound dispersion. If using in a stereo pair, position them equidistant from your primary listening position and spaced appropriately for a balanced soundstage. The speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent interference with televisions or monitors.

Connecting to an Amplifier

Connect the speaker to your amplifier or receiver using high-quality speaker wire. Ensure that the positive (+) terminal on the speaker is connected to the positive (+) terminal on the amplifier, and the negative (-) terminal on the speaker is connected to the negative (-) terminal on the amplifier. Incorrect polarity can result in poor sound quality.

The DV64 speaker is designed to work with amplifiers providing 10 to 200 watts of power. Do not exceed the maximum recommended amplifier power of 200 watts to prevent damage to the speaker.

Operating Instructions

Initial Playback

After connecting the speakers, select your audio source and begin playback at a low volume. Gradually increase the volume to a comfortable listening level. Allow a "break-in" period for the speakers, typically several hours of playback, for the drivers to fully settle and achieve their optimal sound characteristics.

Sound Adjustment

Adjust the bass and treble settings on your amplifier or receiver to suit your personal preference and room acoustics. The DV64 speakers are designed to deliver a balanced audio profile with impressive mid-tones and extended bass.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the speaker cabinet, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed immediately by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the finish.

Grille Care

The speaker grilles can be removed for cleaning or for a different aesthetic. Gently pull the grilles away from the cabinet. Clean them with a soft brush or a lint roller to remove dust. Reattach by aligning the pins with the corresponding holes and pressing gently.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound:
    • Check all speaker wire connections at both the speaker and the amplifier. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
    • Verify that the amplifier is powered on and the correct input source is selected.
    • Confirm that the volume on the amplifier is not set to minimum or muted.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the volume level on your amplifier. Overdriving the speakers can cause distortion.
    • Check speaker wire connections for any loose strands or short circuits.
    • Ensure the audio source is clean and not distorted.
  • Lack of Bass:
    • Verify speaker polarity. Incorrect wiring can cause bass cancellation.
    • Check amplifier bass settings.
    • Ensure speakers are not placed too close to walls or corners, which can sometimes over-emphasize or cancel bass frequencies depending on room acoustics.
