This manual provides instructions for the proper use and care of your Sharp EL-250S 8-digit calculator. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the calculator and keep it for future reference.

Setup
Power Source
The Sharp EL-250S calculator operates on a dual power system: solar power and a single LR44 button cell battery. In well-lit conditions, the calculator primarily uses solar power. In dim lighting or when solar power is insufficient, it automatically switches to battery power.
Battery Installation/Replacement
- Ensure the calculator is turned off.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the calculator.
- Using a small screwdriver, carefully remove the screw securing the battery compartment cover.
- Remove the cover.
- Remove the old LR44 battery (if replacing).
- Insert a new LR44 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.
Note: Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations. Do not mix old and new batteries.
Operating Instructions
Turning On/Off
- Press the ON key to turn the calculator on.
- The calculator will automatically turn off after approximately 7-10 minutes of inactivity to conserve power.
Basic Arithmetic Calculations
- Addition: Enter the first number, press +, enter the second number, press =.
- Subtraction: Enter the first number, press -, enter the second number, press =.
- Multiplication: Enter the first number, press ×, enter the second number, press =.
- Division: Enter the first number, press ÷, enter the second number, press =.
Percentage Calculations
To calculate a percentage of a number (e.g., 10% of 200):
- Enter 200.
- Press ×.
- Enter 10.
- Press %. The result (20) will be displayed.
Memory Functions
- M+: Adds the displayed value to the memory.
- M-: Subtracts the displayed value from the memory.
- RM (Recall Memory): Recalls the value stored in memory to the display.
- CM (Clear Memory): Clears the memory content. Pressing RM after CM will display 0.
Tax Calculation
The calculator features dedicated keys for tax calculations. First, set the tax rate:
- Press RATE SET.
- Enter the tax rate (e.g., 5 for 5%).
- Press SET.
To perform tax calculations:
- +TAX: Adds tax to the displayed value.
- -TAX: Subtracts tax from the displayed value.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the calculator with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the calculator in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery: If the calculator is not to be used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
- Avoid Impact: Protect the calculator from drops and strong impacts.
Troubleshooting
