Introduction

The Canon CB-5L Battery Charger is designed for efficient charging of high-capacity Canon rechargeable batteries. This charger is specifically compatible with Canon BP-511, BP-511A, BP-512, BP-514, BP-522, and BP-535 series batteries. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your CB-5L charger.

Setup

1. Unpacking the Charger

Carefully remove the Canon CB-5L Battery Charger and its power cord from the packaging. Inspect all components for any signs of damage. If any damage is observed, do not use the product and contact Canon support.

2. Identifying Charger Components

3. Connecting to Power

  1. Connect the provided power cord to the power input port on the side of the CB-5L charger.
  2. Plug the other end of the power cord into a standard electrical outlet (AC 100V-240V, 50/60Hz).
  3. Ensure the connection is secure at both ends.

Operating Instructions

1. Compatible Batteries

The Canon CB-5L Battery Charger is designed exclusively for Canon BP-511, BP-511A, BP-512, BP-514, BP-522, and BP-535 series rechargeable batteries. Using incompatible batteries may cause damage to the charger or battery, and poses a safety risk.

2. Inserting the Battery

  1. Align the battery with the battery slot on the charger, ensuring the contacts on the battery match the contacts in the charger.
  2. Gently slide the battery into the slot until it clicks into place or sits securely. Do not force the battery.

3. Charging Process

  • Once the battery is correctly inserted and the charger is connected to power, the charging indicator lights will illuminate.
  • The charger features progressive light indicators (0, 50, 100) to show the approximate charge level of the battery. The lights will illuminate sequentially as the battery charges.
  • Charging is complete when the "100" indicator light remains steadily lit, or all indicator lights turn off (depending on the specific charger revision).
  • Charging time varies depending on the battery's capacity and its current charge level.

4. Removing the Battery

Once charging is complete, gently press the release tab (if present) or carefully slide the battery out of the charging slot. Disconnect the charger from the power outlet when not in use.

5. Compatible Camera Models

The batteries charged by the CB-5L are compatible with various Canon camera models, including but not limited to: Canon G5, G3, G2, G1, D60, D30, Pro90 IS, EOS 10D, and Digital Rebel.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Ensure the charger is disconnected from the power outlet before cleaning.
  • Wipe the exterior of the charger with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials.
  • Keep the charging contacts clean and free of dust or debris. Use a dry cotton swab if necessary.

Storage

  • Store the charger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity.
  • Avoid storing the charger with a battery inserted for extended periods.

Safety Precautions

  • Do not disassemble or modify the charger.
  • Avoid exposing the charger to water or other liquids.
  • Do not use the charger if it has been dropped or damaged.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Use only with specified Canon batteries.

Troubleshooting

  • Immediately disconnect from power and remove the battery. Contact Canon support.
