Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or popper base in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  • An extension cord may be used if care is exercised in its use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for storage or future shipping.
  2. Clean: Before first use, wipe the popper base with a damp cloth. Wash the clear plastic cover and butter melter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Placement: Place the popper base on a stable, dry, heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate clearance around the unit for proper ventilation.
  4. Assemble: Place the clear plastic cover onto the popper base, ensuring it is seated correctly. Position the butter melter/measuring cup into the opening on top of the cover.

Operating Instructions

  1. Measure Popcorn: Use the butter melter/measuring cup to measure popcorn kernels. Fill it to the indicated line (typically 1/2 cup for a full batch). Do not overfill.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Presto Poplite Hot Air Popcorn Popper, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Popcorn not popping: Ensure the unit is securely plugged into a working 120V AC outlet. Check that the popping chamber is clean and free of debris. Use fresh popcorn kernels.
  • Many unpopped kernels: Ensure you are using the correct amount of kernels (1/2 cup as measured by the butter melter). Old or dry kernels may not pop efficiently. Store kernels in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
  • Popcorn flying out of chute: Ensure a sufficiently large bowl is placed directly under the chute. Do not overfill the popping chamber.
  • Unit not heating: Verify the power cord is fully inserted into both the unit and the wall outlet. If the unit still does not heat, it may require service.
