Setup

  1. Unpack the Mouse: Carefully remove the mouse from its packaging.
  2. Connect to Computer: Locate an available USB port on your computer. Insert the USB connector of the Logitech Mini Optical Mouse firmly into the USB port.
  3. Driver Installation (Automatic): For most modern operating systems (Windows, macOS), the necessary drivers will install automatically upon connection. Wait for your operating system to confirm that the device is ready for use.
  4. Placement: Place the mouse on a clean, flat, and opaque surface for optimal optical tracking performance. A mouse pad is generally not required.

Operating Instructions

The Logitech Mini Optical Mouse features a standard three-button configuration with a scroll wheel for intuitive navigation.

  • Left Button: Used for primary clicks, selecting items, and opening files.
  • Right Button: Used for secondary clicks, typically opening context menus or accessing additional options.
  • Scroll Wheel:
    • Scrolling: Rotate the wheel forward or backward to scroll through documents, web pages, or applications.
    • Middle Click: Pressing the scroll wheel down acts as a third button, often used for opening links in new tabs or other customizable functions depending on the software.
  • Optical Tracking: The optical sensor on the underside of the mouse tracks movement precisely. Ensure the sensor is not obstructed and the surface is suitable for optical tracking.

Maintenance

Proper care will extend the life of your mouse.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior of the mouse. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Optical Sensor: Periodically check the optical sensor opening on the underside of the mouse for dust or debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to gently clear any obstructions. Avoid touching the sensor directly.
  • Cable Care: Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling on the USB cable to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

Mouse is not responding:
  • Ensure the USB cable is securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer.
  • Try plugging the mouse into a different USB port.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Check your computer's Device Manager (Windows) or System Information (macOS) to see if the mouse is recognized.
Cursor movement is erratic or jumpy:
  • Ensure the surface you are using the mouse on is clean, flat, and non-reflective. Glass or highly reflective surfaces may cause issues.
  • Clean the optical sensor as described in the Maintenance section.
Scroll wheel is not working:
  • Ensure the mouse is properly connected.
  • Try restarting the application or your computer.
  • Check if there are any software settings for the scroll wheel that might be disabled or misconfigured.
