Infinity Basslink BASSLINK Powered Subwoofer System Instruction Manual

Introduction

The Infinity Basslink is a self-contained, high-performance powered subwoofer system designed to enhance the bass response in your vehicle's audio system. It features a 200-watt Class D amplifier, a 10-inch subwoofer, and a 10-inch passive radiator, all integrated into a compact enclosure. This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your Basslink system.

What's in the Box

Carefully unpack the contents and ensure all items are present:

  • Infinity Basslink Powered Subwoofer Unit
  • Remote Bass-Level Control with connecting wire
  • Wiring Harness (for signal input)
  • Mounting Hardware (if applicable, for securing the unit)
  • Owner's Manual (this document)

Note: Additional wiring for power and ground connections (e.g., 12V battery cable, ground cable) is typically not included and must be purchased separately.

Setup

Mounting

The Basslink can be mounted in various locations within your vehicle, such as the trunk or under a seat, provided there is adequate space and ventilation. Ensure the mounting surface is secure and can support the weight of the unit. Use the provided mounting hardware to firmly attach the Basslink to prevent movement during vehicle operation. Avoid mounting in areas exposed to direct sunlight, excessive heat, or moisture.

Wiring Connections

Proper wiring is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Consult a professional installer if you are unsure about any steps. Ensure the vehicle's battery is disconnected before making any electrical connections.

  • Power (BATT +12V): Connect a suitable gauge power wire (e.g., 8-gauge) directly from the vehicle's positive battery terminal to the Basslink's +12V input. Install an appropriate fuse (e.g., 20A) within 18 inches of the battery.
  • Ground (GND): Connect a short, heavy-gauge ground wire from the Basslink's GND terminal to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle's chassis. Ensure a good electrical connection.
  • Remote Turn-On (REM): Connect a wire from your head unit's remote turn-on output (usually blue or blue/white) to the Basslink's REM input. This will turn the Basslink on and off with your head unit.
  • Signal Input: The Basslink supports both low-level (RCA) and high-level (speaker wire) inputs.
    • Low-Level Input (RCA): If your head unit has RCA pre-outs, connect them to the Basslink's RCA inputs.
    • High-Level Input (Speaker Wire): If your head unit does not have RCA pre-outs, use the provided wiring harness to connect to your vehicle's rear speaker wires. Connect the corresponding positive and negative speaker wires to the harness.
  • Remote Bass-Level Control: Connect the remote control unit to the designated port on the Basslink. Route the cable to a convenient location near the driver's seat for easy access.

Operating

Control Panel Adjustments

The Basslink features several controls on its panel to fine-tune the audio output to your preference and match your vehicle's acoustics. Adjust these controls carefully while listening to music to achieve the desired bass response.

  • Gain: This control matches the input sensitivity of the Basslink to the output of your head unit. Start with the gain at minimum and slowly increase it until the bass sounds balanced with the rest of your system without distortion.
  • Bass EQ: This variable bass equalizer allows you to boost or cut bass output at 45Hz, ranging from +3dB to -6dB. Use this to fine-tune the impact of the bass.
  • Crossover (Low-Pass Filter): This control sets the upper frequency limit for the Basslink, adjustable from 50Hz to 120Hz. Frequencies above this setting will not be reproduced by the subwoofer. Adjust it to blend smoothly with your main speakers.
  • Phase Switch: This switch (0° or 180°) helps to ensure that the Basslink's output is in phase with your main speakers. Listen to music and switch between 0° and 180° to determine which setting provides the most impactful and coherent bass.

Remote Bass-Level Control

The included remote bass-level control allows you to conveniently adjust the subwoofer's output level from the driver's seat. This is useful for making on-the-fly adjustments based on different music genres or personal preferences without needing to access the Basslink unit directly.

Maintenance

The Infinity Basslink is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the Basslink's ventilation grilles are not obstructed. Proper airflow is essential to prevent overheating.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or excessive moisture.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
