  7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  8. Do not use outdoors.
  9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.

Product Overview

The Rival R80 8-Quart Roaster Oven is designed for roasting and baking. It features a removable nonstick cooking pan for easy food preparation and serving.

Key Components:

Before First Use

  1. Unpack the roaster oven and all its components. Remove any packaging materials, stickers, or labels.
  2. Wash the removable nonstick cooking pan, roasting rack, and tempered-glass lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the roaster base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the roaster base in water or any other liquid.
  4. Place the roaster base on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.
  5. Insert the clean, dry nonstick cooking pan into the roaster base.
  6. For initial seasoning and to eliminate any manufacturing odors, operate the empty roaster for approximately 30 minutes at 350°F (175°C). Ensure the area is well-ventilated during this process.
  7. Allow the unit to cool completely before its first use with food.

Operating Instructions

General Use:

  1. Ensure the removable nonstick cooking pan is properly seated inside the roaster base.
  2. Place the steel roasting rack inside the cooking pan if desired, typically for roasting meats to allow drippings to collect below.
  3. Place food directly into the cooking pan or onto the roasting rack.
  4. Cover the roaster with the tempered-glass lid.
  5. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
  6. Turn the temperature control knob to the desired setting. The temperature range is 150°F to 450°F (65°C to 232°C).
  7. Allow the roaster to preheat for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until the desired temperature is reached. A pilot light may indicate when the unit is heating.
  8. Monitor cooking progress through the viewing window in the lid.
  9. Once cooking is complete, turn the temperature control knob to the "OFF" position and unplug the roaster from the outlet.
  10. Use oven mitts or cool-touch handles to carefully remove the lid. The lid can be placed on its integrated lid rest.
  11. To serve, lift the removable nonstick cooking pan out of the roaster base using oven mitts and place it on a heat-resistant surface.

Temperature Control:

The roaster oven features a thermostat that maintains the selected temperature. The temperature control knob allows for precise adjustment within the 150°F to 450°F range. For best results, preheat the roaster to the desired temperature before adding food.

Care and Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the roaster oven from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Removable Nonstick Cooking Pan and Roasting Rack: These components are dishwasher safe, or can be washed by hand in warm, soapy water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could damage the nonstick coating. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  3. Tempered-Glass Lid: The lid can be washed in warm, soapy water or placed in the dishwasher. Ensure it is completely dry before storage.
  4. Roaster Base: Wipe the exterior of the roaster base with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains, a mild non-abrasive cleaner can be used. Never immerse the roaster base, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
  5. Do not use steel wool, abrasive cleaners, or sharp objects on any part of the roaster, as they may scratch or damage surfaces.
  6. Store the roaster oven in a dry place once all parts are clean and dry.
