4. Setup Instructions

4.1. Driver Installation

Before connecting the keyboard, the necessary driver software must be installed on your Palm m500 handheld device. The driver is provided on a 3.5-inch floppy disk.

  1. Insert the provided 3.5-inch floppy disk into a compatible floppy disk drive on your computer.
  2. Copy the driver files from the floppy disk to your computer. If your computer does not have a floppy drive, you may need to use an external floppy drive or transfer the files via another computer that has one.
  3. Transfer the driver files from your computer to your Palm m500 handheld device using your Palm's HotSync manager or equivalent synchronization software.
  4. Follow any on-screen prompts on your Palm device to complete the driver installation. A soft reset of your Palm device may be required after installation.

Note: Ensure the driver is successfully installed before attempting to use the keyboard. Without the driver, the Palm device will not recognize the keyboard.

5. Operating Instructions

The Seiko Thumboard Keyboard provides a full QWERTY layout for efficient text input on your Palm m500 device.

5.1. Basic Typing

  • Character Input: Press the desired letter, number, or symbol key to input characters into any text field on your Palm device.
  • Shift Key: Press and hold the SHIFT key to type uppercase letters or the upper symbols on keys.
  • CAP Key: Press the CAP key once to activate Caps Lock for continuous uppercase input. Press again to deactivate.
