Setup

1. Battery Installation

The Olympus Stylus MJU-II requires one CR123A battery for operation. Ensure the battery is inserted with the correct polarity as indicated inside the battery compartment. A fresh battery can power up to 10 rolls of film.

2. Film Loading

  1. Open the camera back by sliding the latch located on the side of the camera.
  2. Insert a 35mm film cartridge into the film chamber on the left side, ensuring the film leader extends across to the take-up spool on the right.
  3. Align the film leader with the red mark on the take-up spool.
  4. Close the camera back firmly until it clicks into place. The camera will automatically advance the film to the first frame.

3. Setting Film Speed (ISO)

The camera automatically detects the film speed (ISO) using DX coding on the film cartridge. No manual setting is required for DX-coded films. For non-DX coded films, the camera will default to ISO 100.

Operation

1. Powering On/Off

To power on the camera, slide open the lens barrier. To power off, slide the lens barrier closed.

2. Autofocus System

The camera features a multi-point autofocus (AF) system. To focus, gently press the shutter button halfway down. The camera will lock focus, indicated by a green light in the viewfinder. You can then fully press the shutter button to take the picture.

3. Flash Modes

The built-in flash automatically activates in low-light conditions. You can cycle through various flash modes (e.g., auto flash, fill-in flash, flash off, red-eye reduction) by pressing the flash mode button, typically located near the viewfinder or on the top panel.

4. Date/Time Stamping

To activate or adjust the date/time stamp feature, refer to the small LCD panel and control buttons on the camera's back. Use these to set the current date and time, and to select whether it appears on your photos.

5. Taking a Photo

  1. Open the lens barrier to power on the camera.
  2. Look through the viewfinder and compose your shot.
  3. Press the shutter button halfway to activate autofocus and exposure metering.
  4. Once focus is locked, press the shutter button fully to capture the image. The film will automatically advance to the next frame.

6. Film Advance and Rewind

Film advance is automatic after each shot. Once the roll is complete, the camera will automatically rewind the film back into the cartridge. A counter on the camera's top panel indicates the current frame number.
