Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and dispose of them responsibly.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the thermal carafe, its lid, and the filter holder in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a damp cloth.
- First Brew Cycle (Cleaning):
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 10-cup mark.
- Place the empty thermal carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
- Do not add coffee grounds for this cycle.
- Turn on the coffeemaker and allow it to complete a full brewing cycle.
- Discard the hot water from the carafe. This process cleans the internal components and removes any manufacturing residues.
- Setting the Clock (Optional): If your model includes a programmable clock, refer to the operating section for instructions on setting the time.
Operating Instructions
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid of the water reservoir and fill it with the desired amount of fresh, cold water. The water level indicator on the side will guide you. Close the lid securely.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Swing out the filter holder. Place a standard basket-style paper filter or the reusable filter (if included) into the filter holder. Add the desired amount of ground coffee. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee per cup, but adjust to your taste. Swing the filter holder back into place until it clicks.
- Position Carafe: Ensure the thermal carafe, with its lid properly attached, is placed firmly on the warming plate.
- Start Brewing:
- Immediate Brew: Press the ON/OFF switch to start the brewing process. The indicator light will illuminate.
- Programmable Brew (24-hour clock/timer): Set the desired brew time using the programmable clock/timer. Refer to the specific buttons on your control panel for "Program" or "Timer" settings. Once set, activate the timer function. The coffeemaker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.
- Brewing Process: The coffeemaker will begin brewing. The unique Aroma Control system steeps the ground coffee for nearly 2 minutes at the beginning of the cycle to extract maximum flavor.
- Pause & Serve: The drip-free pour spout allows you to remove the carafe for a quick pour during the brewing cycle (for up to 20 seconds) without drips. Replace the carafe promptly to avoid overflow.
- After Brewing: Once the brewing cycle is complete, the coffeemaker will automatically shut off. For best results and to keep coffee hot for hours, remove the thermal carafe from the base immediately after brewing is finished. This seals the carafe and locks in heat and flavor.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffeemaker.
Daily Cleaning:
- Always unplug the coffeemaker before cleaning.
- Wash the thermal carafe, its lid, and the filter holder in warm, soapy water after each use. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are generally top-rack dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended for longevity.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Do not immerse the coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal):
Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffeemaker over time, affecting its performance. Descale regularly, depending on the hardness of your water and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 weeks).
- Prepare a descaling solution: Mix 2-4 tablespoons of white vinegar with a full carafe of cold water, or use a commercial descaling agent designed for coffeemakers following its instructions.
- Pour the solution into the water reservoir.
- Place the empty thermal carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
- Start a brewing cycle. Allow half of the solution to brew through, then turn off the coffeemaker and let it stand for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
- Turn the coffeemaker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
- Discard the solution from the carafe.
- Rinse Cycle: Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and run at least two full brewing cycles with only water to rinse out any remaining descaling solution. Discard the water after each cycle.
