Setup

1. Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the unit.
2. Insert two AA batteries (included) according to the polarity indicators (+/-) inside the compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4. For extended use, an optional 4.5V AC/DC adapter can be used to power the unit from a wall outlet.

2. Connecting Headphones and Remote Control

• Plug the stereo headphones into the headphone jack on the unit.
• If using the wired remote control, connect it between the unit and the headphones. The remote has its own jack for the headphones.

3. Powering On

Press the POWER button or PLAY button to turn on the unit. The display will illuminate.

Operating Instructions

CD Playback

1. Open the disc compartment cover by sliding the OPEN switch. The "pop-up" mechanism will assist in opening.
2. Place a CD (audio CD, CD-R, or CD-RW) onto the spindle with the label side facing up.
3. Close the disc compartment cover firmly until it clicks.
4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
5. To pause, press PLAY/PAUSE again. Press again to resume.
6. To stop playback, press the STOP button.
7. To skip tracks, press the SKIP/SEARCH buttons (▶▶| for next, |◀◀ for previous).
8. To fast forward or rewind, press and hold the SKIP/SEARCH buttons.

"No Skip" Anti-Skip System

The SL-SX287J features a 40-second anti-skip protection system. This system utilizes rubber bushings, a thin and light anti-skip mechanism, and a digital servo system to absorb shocks. A 3-D anti-skip system recovers from horizontal shocks in 0.02 seconds and vertical shocks in 0.3 seconds. In case of a tracking error due to vertical shock, a 40-second memory buffer ensures continuous playback until correct tracking resumes.

Playback Modes

• Programmable Playback: You can program up to 24 tracks to play in a specific sequence. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual for programming steps.
• Random Play: Plays tracks on the disc in a random order.
• Repeat Play: Repeats the current track or the entire disc.
• S-XBS Bass Boost: Activates an enhanced bass sound. Locate the S-XBS switch or button on the unit or remote.

Radio Functionality (FM/AM)

The unit includes an integrated FM/AM radio tuner. Use the FM/AM switch or button to select the desired band. Use the tuning buttons to scan for stations. The display will show the current frequency.

Using the Wired Remote Control

The included 4-key remote control provides convenient access to basic functions:

• Play/Pause: Start or pause playback.
• Stop: Stop playback.
• Skip/Search: Navigate between tracks or fast forward/rewind.
• Volume: Adjust the listening volume.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Unit

• Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
