Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Wash: Before first use, wash all parts in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Refer to the "Maintenance & Cleaning" section for detailed instructions.
- Select Blade: Choose the desired blade insert for your task (thin slice, thick slice, or grating/shredding).
- Insert Blade: Align the chosen blade insert with the grooves in the main slicer body and slide it into place until it clicks securely. Ensure it is firmly seated.
- Position Slicer: Place the mandoline slicer securely over a bowl or on a stable, flat cutting surface. The ridges on the base are designed to rest on the rim of a bowl for stability.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for safe and effective operation:
- Prepare Food: Wash and peel fruits or vegetables as needed. Cut larger items to a size that fits comfortably under the safety guard.
- Attach Safety Guard: Securely attach the food item to the prongs of the safety guard. Ensure the food is held firmly.
- Begin Slicing: Hold the safety guard firmly and slide the food item down the mandoline blade with a smooth, even motion. Apply gentle, consistent pressure.
- Collect Slices: The sliced food will fall through the opening into your bowl or onto your cutting surface.
- Continue until finished: Continue slicing until the food item is too small to safely hold with the safety guard. Do not attempt to slice small pieces without the safety guard.
Tips for Best Results:
- For harder vegetables like carrots or potatoes, ensure a firm grip and steady pressure.
- For softer items, a quicker, more fluid motion may yield better results.
- Always slice away from your body.
Maintenance & Cleaning
Proper cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your mandoline slicer.
- Hand Washing Recommended: For best results and to preserve blade sharpness, hand washing is recommended.
- Immediate Cleaning: Clean the mandoline immediately after each use to prevent food from drying onto the blades and surfaces.
- Disassembly: Carefully remove the blade insert from the main body.
- Washing: Use warm, soapy water and a brush (not your fingers) to clean around the blades. Rinse all parts thoroughly under running water.
- Drying: Dry all components completely before storing to prevent rust on stainless steel blades.
- Storage: Store the mandoline and its inserts in a safe place where blades are protected and out of reach of children.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Food not slicing cleanly. | Insufficient pressure; dull blade (unlikely for new product); incorrect blade insert for food type. | Apply more consistent pressure. Ensure the correct blade insert is used. Blades are not user-sharpenable. |
| Food gets stuck. | Food is too soft or too large; debris accumulation. | Ensure food is firm enough. Cut larger items into manageable sizes. Clean the mandoline thoroughly. |
| Mandoline is unstable during use. | Not properly positioned on a surface or bowl. | Ensure the base ridges are securely resting on a bowl rim or the mandoline is on a flat, non-slip surface. |
| Blade insert slips out. | Insert not fully engaged or damaged. | Ensure the blade insert is clicked securely into place. Inspect for damage. |
