5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover, typically on the bottom or side of the camera.
  2. Slide or unlatch the cover to open the compartment.
  3. Insert two fresh AA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align with the indicators inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Always use new batteries of the same type. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.

5.2. Film Loading

  1. Open the camera back cover by sliding the latch, usually located on the side of the camera.
  2. Place a new 35mm film cartridge into the film chamber on the left side.
  3. Pull the film leader across to the film take-up spool on the right side, aligning it with the orange mark (if present).
  4. Close the camera back cover firmly until it latches. The camera will automatically advance the film to the first frame. The frame counter will display '1'.

Note: If the film is not loaded correctly, the frame counter may blink or display an error. Reopen the back and reload the film.

6. Operating the Camera

6.1. Powering On/Off

To power on the camera, slide the lens barrier open. To power off, slide the lens barrier closed. The lens will retract automatically.

6.2. Taking Photographs

  1. Compose Your Shot: Look through the viewfinder and frame your subject.
  2. Adjust Zoom: Use the zoom lever to adjust the focal length (38mm for wide shots, 70mm for telephoto/portraits).
  3. Focus: The camera features automatic focus. Partially press the shutter button to activate autofocus and exposure settings. A light in the viewfinder will confirm focus.
  4. Shoot: Fully press the shutter button to take the picture. The camera will automatically advance the film to the next frame.

6.3. Flash Modes

The Accura Zoom XB700 QD features a built-in pop-up flash. The flash will automatically activate in low-light conditions. You can typically cycle through flash modes using a dedicated button near the flash unit.

6.4. Self-Timer Function

To use the 12-second self-timer:

  1. Compose your shot and press the self-timer button. An indicator light will usually blink.
  2. Press the shutter button. The camera will delay taking the picture for approximately 12 seconds, allowing you to join the photo.

6.5. Date Imprint (QD Models Only)

The "QD" (Quartz Date) feature allows you to imprint the date and/or time directly onto your photographs. Refer to the small buttons near the LCD panel (if present) for setting the date and time. Use the mode button to select the desired display format (e.g., Year/Month/Day, Month/Day/Year, Day/Month/Year, or Off) and the set button to adjust values.

Once all frames on the film roll have been exposed, the camera will automatically rewind the film back into the cartridge. Do not open the camera back until the film counter indicates 'S' (Start) or 'E' (Empty) and you hear the rewinding process complete.
