- Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert four (4) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.

Note: For optimal performance, use high-quality alkaline batteries. Rechargeable batteries may also be used, but their performance characteristics may differ.
2. Power On/Off
- To power on the radio, press and hold the POWER button (or the designated power control) until the LCD screen illuminates.
- To power off the radio, press and hold the POWER button again until the LCD screen turns off.
Operating Instructions
1. Basic Communication (Push-to-Talk)
- Ensure both radios are powered on and set to the same channel and subcode.
- To transmit, press and hold the PUSH-TO-TALK (PTT) button located on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
- Release the PTT button to listen for a response.
2. Channel Selection
- Press the FUNC button once to enter channel selection mode. The channel number on the LCD will flash.
- Use the UP or DOWN buttons (often integrated with other controls) to select one of the 14 available FRS channels.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
3. Subcode Selection (CTCSS/DCS)
- After selecting a channel, press the FUNC button again to enter subcode selection mode. The subcode number on the LCD will flash.
- Use the UP or DOWN buttons to select one of the 38 available subcodes.
- Press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
- Note: Both radios must be set to the same channel and subcode to communicate. Setting the subcode to '00' typically disables the subcode function.
4. Call Button
- Press the CALL button to transmit a short, audible call tone to other radios tuned to the same channel and subcode. This alerts them to an incoming transmission.
5. Backlit LCD
- The LCD screen features a backlight for improved visibility. This function is often activated automatically when a button is pressed or can be manually toggled. Refer to the radio's specific button layout for backlight activation (e.g., a short press of the PTT button might activate it).
6. Keypad Lock
- To prevent accidental changes to settings, press the LOCK button. The lock icon will appear on the LCD.
- To unlock, press the LOCK button again.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.
- Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Water Exposure: This radio is not waterproof. Avoid exposing it to rain, splashes, or immersion in water.
