  1. Plug the machine into a 110 Volt electrical outlet.
  2. Press the power switch (usually located on the front base) to the "ON" position. The indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Allow the machine to heat up. This typically takes 5-7 minutes until the green light turns off, indicating it has reached operating temperature. For optimal results, some users prefer to let the machine heat for 15-25 minutes to ensure the group head is also fully heated.

6.2 Brewing Espresso

  1. Grind fresh coffee beans to a fine espresso grind.
  2. Place the desired filter basket (single or double) into the portafilter.
  3. Fill the filter basket with ground coffee. Level the coffee and tamp firmly and evenly using the provided tamper.
  4. Attach the portafilter to the group head by inserting it and twisting firmly to the right until secure.
  5. Place an espresso cup under the portafilter spouts.
  6. Slowly lift the lever all the way up. This pre-infuses the coffee. Hold for 5-10 seconds.
  7. Smoothly and steadily pull the lever down with controlled pressure to extract the espresso. The extraction should take approximately 20-30 seconds.
  8. Once the desired volume is reached, release the lever.
  9. Carefully remove the portafilter, discard the used coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and basket.

6.3 Steaming Milk

  1. Ensure the machine is heated and pressurized.
  2. Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
  3. Open the steam valve slowly to purge any condensed water from the steam wand. Close the valve.
  4. Insert the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk.
  5. Open the steam valve fully. Lower the pitcher slightly to introduce air for frothing, creating a "hissing" sound.
  6. Once the milk has expanded and reached the desired foam consistency, submerge the wand deeper to heat the milk to temperature (around 140-150°F / 60-65°C).
  7. Close the steam valve, then remove the pitcher.
  8. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Daily Cleaning

7.2 Descaling

Regular descaling is crucial to prevent mineral buildup and maintain optimal performance. The frequency depends on your water hardness. It is recommended to descale every 2-3 months with soft water, or more frequently with hard water.

  1. Ensure the machine is cold and unplugged.
  2. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Fill the boiler with the descaling solution.
  4. Plug in the machine and turn it on. Allow it to heat up.
  5. Once heated, run several cycles of water through the group head and steam wand until the boiler is empty.
  6. Unplug the machine and allow it to cool.
  7. Rinse the boiler thoroughly with fresh water several times to remove all descaling solution.
  8. Perform several rinse cycles with fresh water through the machine (heating and dispensing) before brewing coffee again.
