Setup
The OXO Good Grips Potato Ricer comes pre-assembled and ready for use. No additional assembly is required.
First-Time Use
- Before first use, wash the ricer thoroughly with warm, soapy water or place it in the dishwasher.
- Rinse and dry completely before storing or using.
Operating Instructions
1. Preparing Food for Ricing
- Ensure potatoes or other vegetables are cooked until very tender. For best results with potatoes, boil or steam them until soft enough to be easily pierced with a fork.
- For potatoes, peeling is optional. The ricer is designed to separate skins from the riced potato, leaving them in the basket.
- Cut larger items into smaller pieces (e.g., quarters) to fit comfortably into the ricer's basket.
2. Ricing Process
- Place the non-slip knob of the ricer on the rim of a pot or bowl to stabilize it.
- Open the ricer by lifting the top handle.
- Place a handful of cooked potatoes or other prepared food into the ricer's basket. Do not overfill.
- Slowly press the top handle down to push the food through the perforated plate. Apply steady pressure.
- Continue until all food is pressed through.
- Lift the handle, remove any remaining skins or unriced pieces from the basket, and repeat the process with the next batch of food.
For smooth mashed potatoes, add butter, milk, or cream and season to taste after ricing.

- Alternatively, wash by hand with warm, soapy water. Use a brush to remove any food particles from the perforated plate.
- Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing to prevent water spots or corrosion.
Storage
- Store the ricer in a dry place. The handle features a hanging hole for convenient storage.

Troubleshooting
Food Not Ricing Properly
- Issue: Food is difficult to press or comes out lumpy.
- Solution: Ensure food is cooked until very tender. Harder pieces will not rice effectively. Cut larger items into smaller, manageable pieces before placing them in the basket.
- Issue: Skins are not separating cleanly.
- Solution: This is normal. The ricer is designed to leave skins in the basket. Simply remove them after each press or when the basket is full.
