Setup

  1. Unpack the Unit: Carefully remove the heater and its components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Attach Propane Cylinder: Ensure the heater's control knob is in the 'OFF' position. Thread a 14.1-16.4 oz. disposable propane cylinder (not included) onto the heater's regulator connection. Hand-tighten only. Do not overtighten.
  3. Position the Stand: The unit comes with a stand that allows it to be used in two positions:
    • Heater Mode: Position the unit upright so the radiant dish faces forward, directing heat horizontally.
    • Stove Mode: Lay the unit down so the radiant dish faces upwards, allowing a pot or kettle to be placed on the grill for cooking.
  4. Optional 20-lb Tank Connection: For extended use, the heater can be connected to a 20-pound propane tank using an optional hose (sold separately). Follow the hose manufacturer's instructions for proper connection.

Operating Instructions

  1. Ensure Proper Ventilation: Always operate the heater in a well-ventilated outdoor area.
  2. Ignition: Slowly turn the control knob to the 'LOW' position. Use a long-stem lighter or match to ignite the burner. Once ignited, hold the knob in for a few seconds to engage the thermocouple.
  3. Adjust Heat Output: Rotate the control knob to select your desired heat setting: 'LOW' (8,000 BTU), 'MEDIUM' (12,000 BTU), or 'HIGH' (14,000-15,000 BTU).
  4. Using as a Heater: In the upright position, the unit provides radiant heat for warming outdoor spaces.
  5. Using as a Stove: In the horizontal position, the upward-facing radiant dish can be used to heat water or cook food. Place cookware directly on the protective grill.
  6. Estimated Run Time: A 1-pound propane cylinder typically lasts approximately 2 hours on the 'LOW' setting and less on 'HIGH'.
  7. Shutting Down: Turn the control knob to the 'OFF' position. Allow the unit to cool completely before handling or storing.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Allow the heater to cool completely. Wipe exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the radiant surface and grill free of debris.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the propane cylinder connection for leaks (use a soapy water solution; bubbles indicate a leak). Check the hose (if used) for cracks or damage.
  • Storage: Disconnect the propane cylinder when the heater is not in use. Store the heater in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not store propane cylinders indoors.
