3. Setup: Battery Installation
Your Maglite flashlight requires four (4) D-cell alkaline batteries (not included).
- Unscrew Tail Cap: Hold the flashlight body firmly and unscrew the tail cap by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Insert Batteries: Insert four D-cell batteries into the flashlight body with the positive (+) terminal facing the head of the flashlight. Ensure correct polarity.
- Replace Tail Cap: Screw the tail cap back onto the flashlight body by turning it clockwise until it is securely tightened. Do not overtighten.

4. Operation
4.1 Turning On/Off and Signaling
- To Turn On: Press the rubber thumb button located on the side of the flashlight body.
- To Turn Off: Press the rubber thumb button again.
- For Signaling (Momentary On/Off): Lightly press and release the thumb button repeatedly.
4.2 Adjusting the Beam
The Maglite flashlight features an adjustable beam from a focused spot to a wide floodlight.
- To Adjust: Rotate the head of the flashlight approximately 1/2 turn clockwise or counter-clockwise to transition between spot and flood beam patterns.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the exterior of the flashlight with a damp cloth as needed.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the anodized finish.
- Keep the lens clean for optimal light output.
5.2 Bulb Replacement
A spare incandescent lamp is located in the tail cap of your flashlight.
- Access Spare Lamp: Unscrew the tail cap. The spare lamp is typically secured in a clip or holder inside the tail cap. Carefully remove it.
- Remove Old Bulb: Unscrew the head of the flashlight. Gently pull the old bulb straight out from its socket. Do not twist.
- Install New Bulb: Carefully insert the new bulb into the socket, ensuring it is seated properly.
- Reassemble: Screw the head back onto the flashlight body, then replace the tail cap.
For optimal performance, use genuine Maglite replacement bulbs.
