Product Overview
This manual provides essential information for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Lomanco Power Vent Motor Replacement, Model 002. This motor is designed as a direct replacement for existing Lomanco power vent units, ensuring continued efficient ventilation.

Image: The Lomanco Power Vent Motor Replacement F0510B2944, shown with its universal mounting hardware kit and electrical wiring. The motor is white with a black band, featuring a central shaft and ventilation slots.
The motor is suitable for use with power vents, operating at 3.4 A, 1/10 HP, 1100 RPM, and 120 V. A universal mounting hardware kit is included to facilitate replacement of older models. It is important to note that the mounting design has changed, so attempting to extract a motor from a new unit for replacement is not recommended. The flexible conduit from your previous motor can be reused by unscrewing it and attaching it to the new motor.
This motor is designed to work with units where the motor mounts with a belly band (5-inch diameter motor). If a longer shaft is required, refer to motor #PD144, which features a 4-inch long shaft with similar mounting characteristics. Replacement fan blade #14393 is also available separately.

Installation and Setup
Safety First: Before beginning any installation, ensure that power to the power vent unit is completely disconnected at the circuit breaker. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death.
- Access the Motor: Carefully open the power vent housing to gain access to the existing motor.
- Disconnect Wiring: Disconnect the electrical wiring from the old motor. If your previous motor used a flexible conduit, unscrew it from the old motor.
- Remove Old Motor: Remove the old motor from its mounting. This replacement motor is designed for units that mount with a belly band around the motor (approximately 5 inches in diameter).
- Attach Fan Blade (if applicable): If reusing your existing fan blade or installing a new one (e.g., #14393), ensure it is securely attached to the new motor shaft. Note the original orientation of the fan blade before removal to ensure correct airflow.
- Mount New Motor: Use the universal mounting hardware kit provided with the new motor to secure it in place. This kit is designed to replace older mounting styles, including those with a flat plate (with 3 mounting holes). The new Lomanco motor does not have a flat plate sandwiched between motor laminations.
- Connect Wiring: Reconnect the electrical wiring to the new motor. If reusing the flexible conduit, screw it onto the new motor. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
- Secure Housing: Close and secure the power vent housing.
- Restore Power: Restore power to the unit at the circuit breaker.
Important Note: This motor is a direct replacement. Do not attempt to modify the motor or its mounting for incompatible systems. If your motor requires a longer shaft, consider motor #PD144.
Operation
Once installed, the Lomanco Power Vent Motor operates automatically in conjunction with your power vent's thermostat or humidistat controls. The motor will activate when the attic temperature or humidity reaches the set point, drawing hot or humid air out of the attic space.
Normal Operation:
- The motor should run smoothly and quietly when active.
- Airflow should be noticeable at the vent's exhaust.
No user intervention is typically required for daily operation beyond setting the desired temperature/humidity on your power vent's control unit.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and efficient operation of your Lomanco Power Vent Motor. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
- Annual Inspection: Annually inspect the motor and fan blade for any signs of wear, damage, or debris accumulation.
- Cleaning: Gently clean any dust or debris from the motor's exterior and ventilation slots using a soft brush or compressed air. Ensure the fan blade is free of obstructions.
- Wiring Check: Verify that all electrical connections are secure and that wiring insulation is intact.
- Lubrication: This motor is typically sealed and does not require user lubrication. Do not attempt to lubricate internal components unless specifically instructed by Lomanco technical support.
If you notice unusual noises, vibrations, or a decrease in performance, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Motor does not run. | No power to the unit; faulty thermostat/humidistat; motor failure. | Check circuit breaker. Verify thermostat/humidistat settings and functionality. Inspect wiring connections. If power is present and controls are functional, the motor may need replacement. |
| Motor runs but fan does not spin. | Fan blade loose or detached; obstruction. | Disconnect power. Inspect fan blade for secure attachment to the motor shaft. Remove any obstructions. |
| Motor is excessively noisy or vibrates. | Loose mounting; unbalanced fan blade; worn bearings. | Disconnect power. Check all mounting hardware for tightness. Inspect fan blade for damage or imbalance. If noise persists, the motor may be failing. |
| Reduced airflow. | Obstructed vent; dirty fan blade; motor running slowly. | Check vent for external obstructions (e.g., leaves, nests). Clean fan blade. If motor speed is noticeably low, it may be failing. |
If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, contact Lomanco customer support for further assistance.
