Sony MDR-V300 Monitor Series Headphones User Manual

Model: MDR-V300

Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the proper use, setup, and maintenance of your Sony MDR-V300 Monitor Series Headphones. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

The Sony MDR-V300 headphones feature a closed, supra-aural design with 30mm driver units for clear audio reproduction. Their compact, foldable design and reversible earcups make them suitable for various listening and monitoring applications.

Product Features

  • Supra-aural design for excellent listening comfort.
  • Folding design for compact mobility; extremely lightweight (4.1 oz.).
  • 30 mm diameter drive units for delivery of broad frequency range.
  • Double-sided oxygen-free copper cord; 10 feet long (3 meters).
  • Reversible earcups for single-sided monitoring.

Package Contents

Ensure all items are present in the package:

  • Sony MDR-V300 Monitor Series Headphones
  • Integrated Audio Cable (10 feet / 3 meters)
  • Unimatch Plug Adapter (Gold-Plated Mini Plug)

Setup

  1. Unfolding the Headphones: Gently unfold the earcups from their compact position. The headband will extend to allow for proper fit.

  2. Connecting to an Audio Device: Insert the 3.5mm mini plug into the headphone jack of your audio source (e.g., portable player, computer, mixer). If your device requires a larger jack, use the included Unimatch plug adapter.
    • For 3.5mm jacks: Connect the mini plug directly.
    • For 6.3mm (1/4 inch) jacks: Screw the Unimatch plug adapter onto the mini plug before connecting.
  3. Adjusting for Fit: Place the headphones over your ears. Adjust the headband length on both sides until the earcups comfortably cover your ears and the headband rests gently on your head. The supra-aural design ensures the earcups sit on, rather than completely around, your ears.

Operating Instructions

  1. Wearing the Headphones: Position the earcups so they sit comfortably on your ears. The "L" (left) and "R" (right) markings inside the earcups indicate the correct orientation.
  2. Single-Sided Monitoring: The earcups are reversible, allowing for single-sided monitoring. To achieve this, rotate one earcup 90 degrees away from your ear while keeping the other earcup in place. This is useful for DJs or audio professionals who need to hear both the audio source and external sounds simultaneously.
  3. Volume Control: Adjust the volume directly on your connected audio device. The MDR-V300 headphones do not feature integrated volume controls.
  4. Storage: When not in use, fold the headphones back into their compact form for easy storage and transport. This helps protect the earcups and headband from damage.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the headphones with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water and a mild soap solution, then wipe dry immediately. Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol, or solvents, as these can damage the finish and materials.
  • Earpad Care: The earpads may wear over time. If replacement is needed, contact Sony customer support for compatible parts.
  • Cable Care: Avoid sharply bending or twisting the cable. Do not pull on the cable to disconnect the plug; always grasp the plug itself.
  • Storage: Store the headphones in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Utilize the folding mechanism for compact and safe storage.
