Operating (Gameplay)

Basic Controls

Power Stone utilizes a simplified control scheme for accessibility. Movement is controlled via the analog stick, allowing for full 3D arena navigation.

  • Analog Stick: Move character in any direction.
  • A Button: Punch / Attack
  • B Button: Kick / Attack
  • X Button: Jump
  • Y Button: Action (e.g., pick up items, interact with environment)
  • L/R Triggers: Combinations for throws and super moves.

Game Mechanics

The core objective is to defeat your opponent by utilizing the environment and collecting Power Stones.

  • Interactive Environments: Each battle arena is fully interactive. Players can pick up and throw various objects such as crates, benches, and signs.
  • Weapon Power-ups: Throughout the match, various weapon power-ups will appear, including hammers, swords, pistols, flamethrowers, Gatling guns, and rocket launchers. These provide temporary offensive advantages.
  • Power Stones: Three Power Stones are present in each arena. Collecting all three transforms your character into a super-being, granting access to powerful fusion moves and enhanced abilities. Opponents can be hit to make them drop their collected stones.
  • Fusion Moves: When transformed, characters can unleash devastating special attacks. These moves consume a portion of your super meter. Using a powerful super move will deplete the entire meter, revert your character to their normal state, and scatter the Power Stones.

Characters

Power Stone features 8 distinct characters, each possessing unique abilities and fighting styles. Experiment with different characters to find one that suits your preferred combat approach.

Maintenance

Proper care of your game disc will ensure its longevity and optimal performance.

  • Disc Handling: Always hold the disc by its edges or by placing a finger through the center hole. Avoid touching the reflective surface.
  • Storage: Store the game disc in its original case when not in use to protect it from dust, scratches, and direct sunlight.
  • Cleaning: If the disc becomes dirty, gently wipe the reflective surface with a soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe from the center outwards in a straight line. Do not use abrasive cleaners or circular motions.

Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
Game does not load or freezes.
  • Ensure the disc is clean and free of scratches. Clean if necessary (refer to Maintenance section).
  • Restart the Dreamcast console.
  • Verify the disc is inserted correctly, label side up.
Slowdown or frame rate drops during gameplay.
  • This can occur during intense action sequences or when multiple effects are on screen. This is a characteristic of the game and not typically a malfunction.
  • Ensure your console has adequate ventilation to prevent overheating.
Controller input is unresponsive.
  • Check that the controller is securely plugged into the Dreamcast console.
  • Try a different controller port or a different controller if available.
