4.1. Front Panel Controls

Cassette Compartment: Area for inserting cassette tapes.

MIC ATT. Switch: Attenuates microphone input (0dB, -10dB, -20dB).

5. Setup

5.1. Power Source

5.1.1. Battery Installation

Open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the unit.
Insert four (4) 'AA' size batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.1.2. AC Power Adapter

Connect the supplied AC power adapter to the DC IN jack on the unit and plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet. Using the AC adapter will bypass battery power.

5.2. Connecting Peripherals

Headphones: Plug 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo headphones into the PHONE jack. Adjust volume with the LEVEL control.
External Microphone: Connect an external microphone to the MIC/TEL jack. Adjust MIC ATT. switch as needed for optimal input level.
Line Input/Output: Use RCA cables to connect the LINE IN/OUT jacks to other audio equipment for recording from or playing back to external devices.
Telephone Recording: Connect a telephone adapter to the TEL jack or MIC/TEL jack (depending on adapter type) and set the INPUT SELECTOR and DIRECT/TELEPHONE switch accordingly.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Playback

Press the EJECT button to open the cassette compartment.
Insert a cassette tape with the desired side facing up. Close the compartment.
Connect headphones or external speakers if desired.
Press the PLAY button.
Adjust the LEVEL, TONE, and PITCH controls for desired audio output.
To stop playback, press the STOP button.

6.2. Recording

Insert a recordable cassette tape.
Select the input source using the INPUT SELECTOR switch (MIC/TEL for built-in or external microphone/telephone, LINE for external audio source).
Set the REC MODE switch to MANUAL, LIMITER, or ALC.

MANUAL: Allows full manual control of recording levels via the REC LEVEL knob.
LIMITER: Automatically prevents signal peaks from exceeding a certain level, useful for dynamic sources.
ALC (Automatic Level Control): Automatically adjusts recording levels to maintain a consistent volume.

Monitor the VU meter to ensure levels are not too high (peaking into the red) or too low. Adjust REC LEVEL if in MANUAL mode.
Press the REC button simultaneously with the PLAY button to begin recording.
To pause recording, press the PAUSE button. Press again to resume.
To stop recording, press the STOP button.

6.3. Tape Speed Selection

Use the SPEED switch to select between LOW and STANDARD tape speeds. Low speed allows for longer recording times on a single tape, while Standard speed offers higher fidelity.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

Regularly clean the tape heads, pinch roller, and capstan with a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. This prevents sound degradation and tape damage.
Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7.2. Battery Care

Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
Replace all batteries at the same time with new ones of the same type.

7.3. Storage

Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, dust, and extreme temperatures.
