A: No, you need a 4.4mm TRRRS or PentaconnTM connector for the
headphone jacks.
Q: What happens if I plug a 115VAC rated amp into a 230V
outlet?
A: Plugging a 115VAC rated amp into a 230V outlet will result in
a broken amp due to the voltage difference.

CLASS A … PLUS
The following is required by the roughly 9,542 government agencies and regulations we have to comply with. If you have some common sense, they should seem pretty straightforward. In any case, read these instructions before proceeding farther, follow all instructions, and heed all warnings. Or else!
1. If you don’t know how to install audio devices, get a qualified professional to help. 2. Never use this device near water, and clean only with a dry cloth. 3. Assure adequate ventilation, do not block any ventilation openings, or place near heat sources. 4. Use only the supplied power cord or suitable replacement. Route cords away from traffic areas and protect them from being pinched. Unplug the cord from the outlet if the apparatus is unused for a long period of time. 5. To prevent electric shock, do not use the plug with an extension cord, receptacle, or outlet unless blades can be fully inserted. 6. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Service is required when the device has been damaged, including cord or plug damage, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the device, the device has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE THIS DEVICE TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.
INTRODUCTION
“Class A…plus? Sounds sketchy,” you may be saying. So here’s what we mean by that: Asgard X debuts our new Continuity ATM output stage, which concentrates on making Class A output even better, by running both NPN and PNP devices at the same time, all the time, for ultimate matching.
We’ve also provided a unique, discrete, zero-feedback, high-voltage gain stage, in a modular design that also allows you to add a DAC module for all-in-one control.
In fact, adding the MeshTM/ForkbeardTM DAC does much more than you might
think–via Forkbeard, it gives you 3-band parametric EQ and balance, as well as additional DAC controls and remote
volume. Choose the Mesh/Forkbeard module, download the Forkbeard app, and discover the latest generation of Asgard.

CONNECTION
1 Modular card. If you’ve chosen Asgard X with the optional MeshTM/ForkbeardTM module, connect a USB input here. We recommend a high quality, USB-C terminated cable of 2m (6.6ft) or less in length. You can download the Forkbeard app via links at schiit.com/forkbeard.
Note: If you have chosen Asgard X without the module, this opening will be blocked. You can add the module later if you’d like.
2 Input. Connect your analog source with high-quality RCA cables.
3 Preamp output. Connect the preamp output with RCA cables to powered speakers or a speaker amp for a full system.
Note: this is an actual preamp output, as in, the output signal is amplified by the gain stage. It can be turned on and off via the front panel switch.
4 Power. Up is on. Down is off. Simple as that.
5 AC Input. Plug the power cord in here. Plug the other end into an outlet of the correct voltage.
Please note the AC voltage of the amp is not adjustable. Plugging a 115VAC rated amp into a 230V outlet will result in a broken amp.

OPERATION
1 Preamp enable. Toggle this switch up to enable the preamp output on the back of the amp. Toggle down to disable them.
2 Gain. Up for high gain, down for low gain. Use the gain setting that works best for your headphones; there’s still no feedback in either gain setting.
3 Volume. Turn it to the right to make the music louder. Stop before the pain starts.
4 Input. Select the module input (switch up) or the RCA inputs (switch down). There is no hidden “middle” position, this is not a mixer.
5 4.4mm TRRRS headphone jack. Plug your 4.4mm balanced headphones in here for our Halo XTM enabled output.
Note: this is not a 3.5mm or 1/8″ TRS output; typical small headphone connectors will not work. You’ll need a 4.4mm TRRRS or PentaconnTM connector here.
6 6.35mm headphone jack. Have plain `ol 1/4″ (aka 6.35mm) headphones? Plug them in here. The power output of both the 4.4mm and 6.35mm headphone jacks are the same.
Please note there is a 20 second delay after power-up before Asgard X engages its output relays.
FAQ
I hear hum, what do I do? If you’re hearing hum through the headphones or preamp output, select low gain for the lowest noise floor.
No, I mean a TON of hum. You may have a ground loop. Ground loops can happen when multiple products with 3-prong AC cords are in the same system. In some cases, you may need a ground loop isolator to eliminate this hum.
What gain should I use? There are no wrong answers here. If you have plenty of volume range, you can use high gain for everything. If you need more range for sensitive headphones, try low gain. Low gain also offers a lower noise floor.
How do I use Forkbeard functions? You’ll need the optional Mesh/Forkbeard module. If you didn’t order the module with Asgard X, you can order one at schiit.com. Then you’ll need to download the Forkbeard app (links at schiit.com/forkbeard) to control the card.
I don’t want any of this Forkbeard stuff, I just want a DAC module. Great. Then don’t download the Forkbeard app at all. The Mesh/Forkbeard card works perfectly as a DAC module only.
Does Asgard X work with previous modules like the 9028 card or Multibit? Asgard X works with everything except the True Multibit 1 and True Multibit 2 modules, which are too large to fit next to the heatsink.
This thing runs warm! Yes it does. It’s a Class A amp, after all. Class A means it’s running all-out, all the time. That’s perfectly fine; that’s what it’s designed for.
Can I leave Asgard X on all the time? You can. It won’t hurt anything.
It doesn’t turn on, what do I do? Plug it in to a different AC socket. Ensure you are not currently in a blackout. Then contact us if it still doesn’t turn on.
