    Question

I received the Arris TM822 modem; can you provide more information and instructions before I try to set it up?

    Answer

The Arris TM822 is a DOCSIS 3.0 Telephony Modem that supports both internet and phone services. Below is a summary of the key information to help you get started:

    • Rear Panel Connections: Connect your coaxial cable to the Cable port, your computer or router to the yellow Ethernet port, and your telephone to the grey Tel 1/2 port. Finally, connect the Power cord.
    • Front Panel Indicators: Once powered, the Power, DS (Downstream), US (Upstream), and Online lights should eventually turn solid green to indicate a successful internet connection.
    • Ethernet Link: The Link light will flash when there is data activity. A green light indicates a high-speed (1000 BaseT) connection, while yellow indicates a standard (10/100 BaseT) connection.
    • Resetting: If you encounter issues during setup, there is a recessed Reset button on the back that can be pressed with a small, non-metallic object to reboot the device.
