    Question

Why is the right Echo Bud not working?

    Answer

If your right Echo Bud is not working, please try the following troubleshooting steps based on the user guide:

    • Check the Battery: Place the earbuds in the charging case and check the Earbud battery LEDs. A red light indicates the battery is low. Ensure the charging pads on the earbud and the pins in the case are clean and making contact.
    • Verify Placement: Ensure the earbud is correctly oriented with the smile logo right-side up. The Echo Buds use an IR sensor to detect when they are in your ear; if the sensor is dirty or covered by an incorrectly installed wing tip, the earbud may not activate.
    • Check Alexa App Settings: Open the Alexa app and ensure the earbud is not muted. Note that if you remove one earbud from your ear, access to Alexa is disabled for that specific earbud.
    • Restart Pairing: Place both buds in the case, leave the case open, and hold the button on the back for 3 seconds until the LED pulses blue to re-enter pairing mode.

For further assistance, Amazon recommends going to Help & Feedback within the Alexa app or visiting www.amazon.com/devicesupport.

  2. Why do I need to use Alexa? This is terrible

    Manuals+ clarified question
    Question

Why is the Alexa app required for Echo Buds, and can I use other assistants?

    Answer

According to the Amazon Echo Buds User Guide, the Alexa app is required for several critical reasons:

    • Activation: Setup through the Alexa app is required to activate the full functionality of your Echo Buds and to ensure you receive the latest software updates.
    • Customization: You must use the app to define your own tap controls, perform the ear tip fit test, and manage features like Active Noise Cancellation or Passthrough.
    • Device Pairing: You must pair and activate your Echo Buds through the Alexa app before you can pair them with other Bluetooth devices.

However, once set up, you can customize the tap controls in the Alexa app to trigger other voice assistants, such as Siri or Google Assistant, by assigning them to a "Long hold" action on the earbuds.
