Amazon Fire Tablet Liquid Detection Issues

Amazon Fire Tablet Liquid

The charging port on tablets with USB-C ports are sensitive to liquid. If liquid is detected in the port, an alert is displayed on-screen and you are temporarily not allowed to charge the device.

Note:

  • A liquid detection notificationappears intermittently as liquid evaporates from the USB-C port.
  • Do not use any other methods or products to dry the USB-C port, as the device can become permanently damaged.
  1. If you’re charging, unplug the cable from the device.
Failure to do so can result in permanent damage. An audio alert and pop-up icon can not be dismissed until you unplug the cable.
  2. Hold the device facing port side down and gently shake it for about 5 seconds, or until liquid is not visibly present in the port.
  3. Rest the device on a flat surface to dry completely (for up to 48 hours).
If liquid is detected in the port, a liquid icon is displayed on the device screen.
You can still use your device when liquid is detected. After the liquid icon disappears, you can charge your device.

    Question

Why does water evaporate from the USB socket, does the device have water cooling, and do I need to refill it?

    Answer

Amazon Fire Tablets do not have water cooling systems, and you should never add water to the device. The liquid detection alert occurs because the USB-C port is sensitive to moisture from external sources (such as humidity, spills, or damp cables).

The mention of water "evaporating" in the manual refers to the natural drying process of accidental moisture that has entered the port from the outside. To resolve this issue:

    • Do not top up or add any liquid to the port.
    • Unplug any charging cables immediately.
    • Hold the device with the port facing down and gently shake it for 5 seconds.
    • Place the device on a flat surface and allow it to air dry completely for up to 48 hours until the alert icon disappears.
