- Make sure that the product is switched off.
- Insert the small plug into the product and put the power plug in any 120V AC outlet.

To switch on the product, push the on/off slide upwards (Fig. 8).
To switch off the product, push the on/off slide downwards (Fig. 9).
Trimming Tips
- The hair length settings are indicated in millimeters. The settings correspond to the remaining hair length after trimming.
- Always comb your hair before you start trimming.
- When trimming for the first time, start by using the guard with the maximum trimming length setting to familiarize yourself with the product.
- Since hairs do not all grow in the same direction, you may want to try different trimming positions (i.e. upwards, downwards, or across). Practice is best for optimum results.
- Always make smooth and gentle movements and make sure that the surface of the guard always stays in contact with your skin.

Trimming with a Guard
This product comes with two guards:
Guard | mm | Inches | Intended use |
---|---|---|---|
Adjustable beard guard | 1 mm – 23 mm | 3/64 in. – 29/32 in. | facial hair |
Adjustable hair guard | 1 mm – 23 mm | 3/64 in. – 29/32 in. | scalp hair |
- Attach one of the guards to the product (see 'Attaching and detaching the trimming guards').
- Move the length setting adjustment slide to the desired length setting (Fig. 10).
- Switch on the product.
- To trim in the most effective way, move the guard against the direction of hair growth (Fig. 11). Make sure that the surface of the guard always stays in contact with the skin.
- Shake off cut hair from the guard every few strokes. If a lot of hair has accumulated in the guard, switch off the product, remove the guard and blow and/or shake off the hairs.
- Switch off and clean the product after each use (see 'Cleaning').

Use the trimmer without the trimming guard to trim hair close to the skin (to a length of approx. 1/32 in. or 0.5 mm) or to trim edges and single hairs.
- Detach the trimming guard from the product (see 'Attaching and detaching the trimming guards').
- Switch on the product.
- To trim hair close to the skin, place the flat side of the cutting element against your skin and make strokes against the direction of hair growth.
- For contouring, hold the cutting element perpendicular to the skin. Make well controlled movements. Touch the hair lightly with the trimmer (Fig. 12).
Be careful when you trim without a guard because the cutting unit removes every hair it touches.
- Switch off and clean the product after each use (see 'Cleaning').
