Networkstore.lk was brought in to resolve issues that Noratel International (Pvt) Ltd was encountering with their existing WiFi network in their transformer manufacturing facility in Katunayake, Sri Lanka. Noratel is a global manufacturer of transformers and reactors. Noratel’s transformers can be found in many applications around the globe: from ships and trains to wind turbines, lifts, escalators, cranes, solar panels, refrigerators, and medical devices.
The customer had an existing UniFi WiFi 6 Series deployment throughout their facility. Their existing network had many issues, especially when working with ERP systems and videoconferencing software. Issues included:
- Frequent Connectivity Drops: Persistent connectivity drops disrupting important tasks, even occurring within close proximity.
- Inconsistent Signal Strength: The signal strength fluctuated quite a bit, making it difficult to rely on a stable connection.
- Slow Performance: Network speeds were well below the level of internet service being delivered to the facility.
- Overheating: Devices on the network were running hot after a few hours and it was assumed this could be part of the issue.
The existing Ubiquiti hardware was replaced with 10 Alta Labs AP6-Pro Access Points and 5 Alta Labs AP6 Access Points. All of the issues they were encountering previously were resolved by the Alta Labs WiFi system.
The Noratel site is approximately 75,800 m2. Alta Labs access points were installed in the General Operations area that covers approximately 2,800 m2. The plan is to now expand coverage with additional Alta Labs access points covering the remaining operational and factory areas that are approximately 38,000 m2. Noratel has decided to integrate Alta Labs switches in the upcoming deployment in addition to all of the Alta Labs access points they will deploy.
