    Question

Why am I receiving a 'V Home tariff plan' error when connecting my Aeotec Cam 360 to SmartThings?

    Answer

The error regarding a V Home tariff plan typically occurs when the SmartThings app or the specific region's service provider (such as Vodafone in certain European markets) requires a specific subscription for cloud recording and camera integration. This is not a hardware fault of the Aeotec Cam 360, but a service requirement within the SmartThings ecosystem in your region.

To resolve this or troubleshoot the connection, please try the following steps based on the Aeotec Cam 360 manual:

    • Perform a Factory Reset: Hold the reset button on the back of the camera for 3 seconds. Release it when the LED blinks blue. Wait for the LED to blink amber before trying to pair again.
    • Check Network Compatibility: Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network, as the camera may have issues on 5GHz-only bands.
    • Manual Pairing: Instead of scanning the QR code, try selecting Add Device Manually in the SmartThings app, choose Aeotec, then Camera, and follow the prompts.
    • Contact Support: Since the 'V Home' error is specific to the SmartThings service layer, if the error persists after a factory reset, the manual recommends contacting support@smartthings.com directly to clarify subscription requirements for your specific account and region.
