1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Sofirn SC31 Pro flashlight. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your new device. The SC31 Pro utilizes Anduril2 firmware, offering both a Simple UI for ease of use and an Advanced UI for enthusiasts. Please read this manual thoroughly before operation.

2. Safety Instructions

• Do not point the beam at people's eyes. Doing so could cause retinal damage.
• The SC31 Pro is a very high-intensity flashlight. Do not point directly at a person, animal, moving vehicles, or flammable materials. Please do not allow children to play with it.
• Avoid hitting or dropping the flashlight.
• Please install the cells correctly, making sure the anode side (+) is towards the head.
• Be aware that the flashlight gets hot quickly when using maximum brightness. It will automatically reduce brightness to prevent overheating. Avoid using maximum brightness for extended periods before it gets very hot.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

1. Unscrew the body (tail cap) of the flashlight.
2. Insert the 18650 Li-ion battery with the anode side (+) towards the head/LED.
3. Screw the tail cap back on tightly.

After proper battery installation, the light should quickly blink once to confirm it has power and is now operational.

5. Operation

5.1 Quick Start (Simple UI)

The SC31 Pro uses Anduril2 firmware, which offers a Simple UI for basic operation and an Advanced UI for more complex features. By default, the flashlight is in Simple UI mode.

• Turn ON/OFF: Single click (1C) the side switch.
• Change Brightness: While ON, press and hold (1H) the button to ramp up or down. Release and hold again to reverse the ramping direction.
• Highest Safe Level: Double click (2C) to toggle between the current brightness and the highest safe level.
• Momentary High Mode (from OFF): Press and hold (2H) to activate momentary high mode. Release to turn off.
• Toggle Ramping Style (while ON): Triple click (3C) to switch between SMOOTH RAMPING and STEPPED RAMPING.
• Lockout Mode (from OFF): Four clicks (4C) to enter/exit lockout mode.
• Battery Check (from OFF): Triple click (3C) to display voltage (blinks once, then turns off).

5.2 Button Presses Notation

Anduril2 uses a specific notation for button presses:

• 1C: One Click. Press and quickly release the button.
• 1H: Hold. Press the button, but keep holding it.
• 2C: Two Clicks. Press and release quickly, twice.
• 2H: Click, Hold. Click two times, but hold the second press.
• 3C: Three Clicks. Press and release quickly, three times.
• 3H: Click, Click, Hold. Click three times, but hold the final press.

5.3 Advanced UI

The Advanced UI offers a wide range of customizable modes and features. It is more complex and recommended for experienced users. For a detailed diagram and full instructions on the Advanced UI, please contact Sofirn for a PDF file or video link.

To switch from Simple UI to Advanced UI, turn the light OFF, then press and hold (10H). To switch from Advanced UI to Simple UI, turn the light OFF, then press and click (10C).

6. Charging

The Sofirn SC31 Pro features a convenient USB-C charging port. To charge the battery:

1. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the flashlight's charging port and a 5V/2A power source.
2. The indicator light on the button will show red during charging.
3. Once fully charged, the indicator light will turn green.
4. Charging typically takes approximately 2 hours with a 5V/2A adapter.

8. Maintenance

• Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and void the warranty.
• If the flashlight will not be used for an extended period, please remove the battery to prevent damage from electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
• Unscrew the tail cap one-half turn or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
• Use a cleaning cloth to clean the threads every 6 months. Applying silicone grease to the threads is recommended.
• Long-term usage can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the O-ring with an approved spare.
• Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the flashlight's performance. Dirty contacts may cause flickering, intermittent shining, or failure to illuminate. Clean contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

9. Troubleshooting

• Flashlight not working or flashing improperly: Ensure the battery is installed correctly (anode + towards the head). Unscrew the body, remove any insulating paper/sheet, then screw back tightly. Clean contacts with a clean cloth and alcohol.
• Button backlight behavior: To change the button backlight mode (Off-Low-High-Blinking), quickly press the button 7 times from the OFF state.
• Strobe modes not activating: In Advanced UI, two quick clicks followed by holding the third click (2H) will enter strobe modes. Double click to switch between different strobe modes.
• Flashlight gets hot quickly in Turbo mode: This is normal due to high intensity. The flashlight has Advanced Temperature Regulation (ATR) which automatically adjusts brightness to prevent overheating when the internal temperature reaches 45°C.
• Factory Reset: If you get lost in the UI or want to auto-calibrate the temperature sensor, perform a factory reset. Unscrew the body, hold the switch, screw the body tight, and keep holding the switch until it blinks (about 4 seconds). The light will flicker and briefly burst to full power. Hold until it reaches full power for a complete reset, or release early to abort.
• Low Battery Indication: When the battery is low, the button LED will blink red.

10. User Tips

• For optimal color rendition and distinguishing objects, consider using the 4000-4500K LED option, even though 6500K might appear brighter.
• Turbo mode is very powerful and generates significant heat. Use it for short bursts rather than extended periods to avoid excessive heat buildup.
• The flashlight can be operated while connected to a charger.
• A magnetic tail cap is not included in the standard package but can be purchased separately for hands-free use.
• Regularly clean the threads and O-rings and apply silicone grease to maintain water resistance and smooth operation.
