6. Operation

6.1 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Long press the main button until the light illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Long press the main button until the light turns off.

6.2 Mode Switching

The Q5 taillight features 4 flash modes. Short press the main button to cycle through the modes:

  1. Fast Flash Mode: Quick, intermittent flashes for high visibility.
  2. Breathing Flash Mode: Slow, pulsating light.
  3. Bright (Steady) Mode: Constant illumination.
  4. SOS Mode: International Morse code signal for distress.

6.3 Smart Features

The Q5 taillight is equipped with intelligent sensors for enhanced safety and convenience:

  • Brake Sensing: Upon detecting braking, the light will automatically switch to maximum brightness to alert following traffic.
  • Automatic On/Off: The light automatically turns on when motion is detected and ambient light is low. It turns off after 30 seconds of inactivity (except in Steady mode).
  • Vibration Sensing: The light will automatically illuminate when it senses vibration, such as when you start riding.
  • Light Sensing: The light adjusts its operation based on ambient light conditions, optimizing battery life and visibility.

6.4 Charging

The Q5 taillight is equipped with a 400mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery and uses a Type-C charging port.

  • Connect the provided Type-C USB cable to the charging port on the light and to a USB power source (e.g., computer, wall adapter).
  • A full charge typically takes around 2.5 hours.
  • Battery life varies by mode: Bright (~20H), SOS (~40H), Breathing (~40H), Flash (~50H).
Type-C Fast Charging

6.5 Battery Indicator

The main button on the light also serves as a battery indicator. Blue lights around the button indicate the charge level:

  • Four blue lights: 75%~100% charge
  • Three blue lights: 50%~75% charge
  • Two blue lights: 25%~50% charge
  • One blue light: 0%~25% charge (recharge soon)

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the light with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Charging: Always use the provided Type-C cable. Avoid overcharging or completely draining the battery for optimal lifespan.
  • Storage: Store the taillight in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods. Charge it periodically to maintain battery health.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Light not turning on/charging: Ensure the charging cable is properly connected and the light is fully charged. If the light does not respond after charging, try a long press to power on.
  • Brake light not activating: Ensure the light is not in Steady mode, as automatic turn-off after inactivity does not apply to this mode. Check for proper mounting and sufficient vibration/deceleration.
  • Light turns off automatically: This is a feature of the smart sensor, designed to save power after 30 seconds of inactivity. If you prefer it to stay on, use the Steady mode.
  • Light not visible during the day: While the light has high visibility, direct sunlight can reduce its perceived brightness. Use the brightest flash modes for daytime riding.

9. User Tips

  • The brake sensing feature works perfectly and is highly recommended for improved safety.
  • The light performs well in various weather conditions, including rain, cold, and snow. Its IPX6 waterproof rating ensures durability.
  • Battery life is excellent; many users report long usage times between charges.
  • For saddle rail mounting, the maximum outer distance between rails can be adjusted up to approximately 6 cm (with red gaskets), with a minimum of 4.8 cm.
  • The automatic on/off feature is convenient, but if you need the light to stay on constantly during the day (e.g., in fog), select the Steady mode.
  • The light can also act as a reflector when turned off, providing an additional layer of passive safety.
