1. Introduction

The BTMETER BT-100-APP is a versatile digital anemometer designed for precise measurement of various environmental parameters. It accurately measures ambient temperature, humidity, dew point temperature, wet bulb temperature, wind speed, and air volume. This portable device is equipped with an LCD display featuring a backlight for easy readability in low-light conditions. A key feature is its Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to connect the anemometer to a mobile phone application for convenient operation, data viewing, and recording.

3.2 Device Layout and Controls

The BT-100-APP anemometer features an intuitive design with clearly labeled components and buttons for ease of use.

  • 8 Fan Blades: Designed for accurate wind speed measurement.
  • 1.5" LCD Screen: Displays measurement readings and unit indicators.
  • UNIT Switch Button: Toggles between wind speed units (m/s, Ft/min, Knots, Km/hr, Mph).
  • Switch (Power Button): Turns the device ON/OFF. Supports both manual and automatic power off to save battery.
  • Auto Backlit Button: Activates or deactivates the LCD backlight. The backlight automatically turns off after 15 seconds of inactivity.
  • MAX/MIN Button: Displays the maximum or minimum recorded wind speed.
  • AVG/Current Button: Toggles between average and current wind speed readings.
  • °F/°C Switch: Changes the temperature display unit between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

3.3 Tripod Mount

The anemometer features a reserved standard tripod M 1/4 screw interface at its base, allowing it to be fixed on a tripod for long-term fixed-point measurements. Please note that the tripod is NOT included with the device.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The BT-100-APP anemometer requires two AAA 1.5V batteries (not included). To install the batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide or unclip the cover to open.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Mobile App Installation and Connection

The BT-100-APP anemometer can connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth for enhanced functionality and data logging. Follow these steps to install the app and connect your device:

  1. Install the APP: Scan the QR code provided in the manual or on the product packaging (see Figure 5.1) to download the "Intelligent Anemometer" app. Alternatively, search for "Intelligent Anemometer" in your device's App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Enable Bluetooth: Turn on the Bluetooth function on your smartphone. (Attention: Turn off all irrelevant Bluetooth devices around you to avoid interference.)
  3. Open App & Power On Anemometer: Launch the "Intelligent Anemometer" app on your phone. Then, turn on the BT-100-APP anemometer by pressing the power button.
  4. Connect: Wait a few seconds for the app to detect the anemometer. The "START" button within the app should turn blue. Press it to establish the connection and begin real-time measurements.

6. Operation

6.1 Basic Measurements

Once the device is powered on, it will automatically display the current wind speed and temperature. Ensure the fan blades are unobstructed and facing the direction of the wind for accurate readings.

6.2 Unit Selection

  • Wind Speed Units: Press the UNIT button to cycle through available wind speed units: m/s, Ft/min, Knots, Km/hr, and Mph.
  • Temperature Units: Press the °F/°C button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays.

6.3 MAX/MIN/AVG Readings

To view different measurement modes:

  • Press the MAX/MIN button to display the maximum or minimum recorded wind speed since the device was powered on or reset.
  • Press the AVG/Current button to switch between the current real-time wind speed and the average wind speed.

6.4 Backlight Function

The device features an HD backlit screen for visibility in various lighting conditions. Press the Backlit button (often indicated by a sun/light icon) to turn the backlight on or off. The backlight will automatically turn off after 15 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.

6.5 Auto/Manual Power Off

The anemometer is designed with both manual and automatic power-off features to extend battery life. The device will automatically power off after a period of inactivity. To manually turn off the device, press and hold the power button.

6.6 App Functionality

When connected to the mobile app, you can view real-time measurements, record data, and potentially export data in formats like TXT or EXCEL. The app provides a graphical interface for monitoring wind speed and temperature over time.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the device in its carrying bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Sensor Care: Keep the fan blades and sensors free from dust and debris to ensure accurate measurements. Avoid touching the sensors directly.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device not turning on: Check if the batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge. Replace with new batteries if necessary.
  • Inaccurate readings: Ensure the fan blades are spinning freely and are not obstructed. Verify that the device is positioned correctly in the airflow.
  • Bluetooth connection issues: Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and the anemometer is powered on. Close and reopen the app, or restart both devices. Ensure no other Bluetooth devices are interfering.
  • LCD backlight not working: Press the backlight button to activate it. If it still doesn't work, check battery levels.

9. User Tips

  • For stable and long-term measurements, utilize the standard M 1/4 screw interface at the bottom of the device to mount it on a tripod. This ensures consistent positioning and reduces human error.
  • When connecting to the mobile app, temporarily disable Bluetooth on other nearby devices to ensure a smooth and quick connection with your anemometer.
