4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Magnification and Objective Lens

The SV28/SV28 PLUS features a powerful 25-75x zoom magnification and a large 70mm objective lens.

  • The 70mm objective lens gathers more light, providing brighter and sharper images, especially in low-light conditions.
  • The 19mm eyepiece diameter ensures a comfortable viewing experience.

4.2. Field of View

The field of view for the 25-75x70 model is 64-43 ft at 1000 yards. The minimum focusing distance is 8 meters.

4.3. Focusing and Zoom

The spotting scope features a dynamic lens focusing system and a zoom adjustment ring.

  • Zoom: Rotate the Zoom Adjustment Ring (located on the eyepiece) to change the magnification from 25x to 75x.
  • Focus: Use the Focusing Wheel (located on the main body) to achieve a sharp image. Adjust as needed for different distances and magnification levels.

4.4. Optical Quality

The spotting scope utilizes Fully Multi-coated (FMC) optics and a high-index BAK4 Porro prism for superior image quality.

  • FMC: Multiple layers of anti-reflection coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces reduce light loss and glare, enhancing brightness and contrast.
  • BAK4 Prism: Provides a high refractive index and lower critical angle, ensuring better light transmission and resulting in superior brightness, resolution, and edge clarity compared to BK7 prisms.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning the Lenses

Proper cleaning of the lenses is crucial for maintaining optical clarity.

  • Use the provided glass wipe or a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces.
  • Gently brush away any dust or loose particles before wiping to avoid scratching the lens.
  • For stubborn smudges, a small amount of lens cleaning fluid can be applied to the cloth (not directly to the lens).
  • Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.

6.2. General Care

  • Store the spotting scope in a dry, cool place when not in use.
  • Although the scope is IPX4 waterproof, avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain or submersion in water.
  • Ensure all lens caps are in place when storing or transporting the scope to protect the optical surfaces.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Foreign Objects Inside Eyepiece: It is not recommended to disassemble the eyepiece to remove debris like hair or threads, as this can introduce more dust and potentially damage the optics. Contact customer support if the issue significantly impacts viewing quality.
  • Eyepiece Wobble: If the eyepiece feels loose or wobbly, ensure it is properly seated and tightened. If the issue persists, it may indicate a manufacturing defect.
  • Blurry Image at Maximum Magnification (75x): At higher magnifications, image clarity can be affected by atmospheric conditions (heat haze, air currents) and light availability. If the image is blurry at 75x, try reducing the magnification to 50x or 25x for a clearer view.

8. User Tips

  • Tripod Selection: While a desktop tripod is included, for extended or more comfortable viewing, especially when standing, consider investing in a taller, full-sized tripod. This will prevent the need to lie down or crouch uncomfortably.
  • Smartphone Photography: To connect a smartphone for digiscoping, you will need a monocular telescope adapter (e.g., For D41.05mm and M42*0.75 to 1.25" Coaxial Lock). Ensure the adapter is compatible with your phone and the scope.
  • Astronomical Observation: The SV28/SV28 PLUS is excellent for moon watching, allowing you to see craters clearly. For detailed views of planets like Jupiter or Saturn's rings, a more powerful astronomical telescope (10-15 times stronger) is generally recommended.
  • Target Shooting: For target shooting at distances up to 150 meters, the scope provides sufficient clarity to distinguish bullet holes, even small ones like a 1-cent coin. Adjust magnification based on distance and lighting conditions for the best results.

9. Warranty and Support

Svbony is committed to providing high-quality products and customer satisfaction.

  • 7-Day Return Policy: Enjoy 7 days to return the product if you encounter any quality problems.
  • Lifetime Warranty: The product comes with a Lifetime Warranty, including 1 year of free replacement and lifetime warranty support. Please note that shipping costs for warranty claims after the initial free replacement period may be borne by the buyer.
