5. Setup Instructions
5.1 Mounting the Wavemaker Pump
- Ensure your aquarium glass thickness does not exceed 15mm for secure magnetic mounting.
- Place the wavemaker pump inside the aquarium, ensuring it is fully submerged.
- Align the external magnet on the outside of the aquarium glass directly opposite the internal pump. The strong magnets will hold the pump in place.
- Adjust the position and angle of the pump as desired to achieve optimal water flow.

5.2 Connecting the Controller and Power
- Connect the wavemaker pump cable to the 'PUMP' port on the smart controller.
- Connect the power adapter to the 'POWER' port on the smart controller.
- Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet (110-240V).
- The controller will power on, and the pump will begin operation according to the default settings.

6. Operating Instructions
The smart controller (W-10/20) allows you to customize the wavemaker's performance. Refer to the controller image for button and indicator locations.

6.1 Adjusting Flow Rate (Speed)
Use the rotary knob labeled 'Fast' to 'Slow' to adjust the pump's speed and thus the water flow rate. Turn clockwise for faster flow, counter-clockwise for slower flow. The 'Speed' indicator lights will show the current setting.
6.2 Operating Modes
Press the 'MODE' button to cycle through different wave patterns:
- W1 (Wave Mode 1): Creates a regular wave pattern.
- W2 (Wave Mode 2): Creates a more irregular wave pattern.
- Else (Random Mode): Generates a random flow pattern, simulating natural ocean currents.
- H (Constant Flow Mode): Provides a steady, continuous flow.
- C (Alternating Flow Mode): The pump alternates between high and low flow rates.
6.3 Feed Mode
Press the 'SPEED FEED' button once to activate Feed Mode. The pump will slow down for a period of 10 minutes, allowing fish to feed without being disturbed by strong currents. The '10min' indicator will light up. After 10 minutes, the pump will automatically resume its previous operating mode.
6.4 Night Sensor
The controller features a 'Light Sensor' that automatically detects when tank lights go out. In low light conditions, the pump will automatically slow down to a gentler flow, simulating nighttime conditions in the ocean. This helps reduce stress on nocturnal inhabitants.
6.5 Wireless Control (Master/Slave)
If you have multiple Jebao RW wavemakers, you can set them up for wireless synchronization:
- Master Pump: Set one controller as the 'Master Slave' by pressing and holding the 'WI-LOCK' button until the 'Master Slave' indicator lights up. This controller will dictate the mode and speed for all linked pumps.
- Slave Pumps: For other pumps, ensure their controllers are not set to 'Master Slave'. They will automatically synchronize with the master controller.
- Lock Function: Press the 'WI-LOCK' button briefly to lock the current settings, preventing accidental changes.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your wavemaker.
- Cleaning the Pump: Disconnect power. Remove the pump from the aquarium. Disassemble the pump head and impeller. Clean any algae, debris, or calcium buildup using a soft brush and warm water. For stubborn calcium deposits, a mild vinegar solution can be used, followed by thorough rinsing.
- Ceramic Shaft: The ceramic shaft is designed for long life and durability. Inspect it during cleaning for any signs of wear or damage.
- Controller Care: Keep the controller dry and clean. Wipe with a dry cloth if necessary. Do not immerse in water.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically check all cables for any signs of fraying, cuts, or damage. Replace immediately if damage is found.
8. Troubleshooting
- Pump not turning on:
- Check if the power adapter is securely plugged into both the controller and the wall outlet.
- Ensure the pump cable is firmly connected to the controller.
- Verify the power outlet is functional.
- Weak or inconsistent flow:
- Clean the pump impeller and housing. Debris or algae buildup can restrict flow.
- Adjust the flow rate using the rotary knob on the controller.
- Check for any blockages in the pump's intake or output.
- Excessive noise:
- Ensure the pump is fully submerged and not operating dry.
- Clean the impeller and ceramic shaft for any foreign objects or buildup.
- Check if the pump is securely mounted and not vibrating against the glass.
- Controller not responding:
- Disconnect and reconnect the power to reset the controller.
- Ensure all connections are secure.
9. User Tips
- Aquarium Size Matching: For larger aquariums, especially those around 450 liters (approximately 120 gallons), consider using an RW15 or RW20 model for adequate flow. For smaller tanks (e.g., 68 gallons), two RW4 units might be sufficient, but a single RW8 could also work depending on desired flow.
- Controller per Pump: Each Jebao RW wavemaker pump requires its own dedicated controller. You cannot connect multiple pumps to a single controller.
- Glass Thickness: The magnetic mount is designed for glass up to 15mm thick. Exceeding this thickness may result in an insecure mount and potential pump detachment.
- Placement: Experiment with different pump placements and angles in your aquarium to achieve the most natural and beneficial wave patterns for your specific tank inhabitants.
