4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Operation

  • Power ON/OFF (13): Press the "ON/OFF" button to turn the caliper on or off. The caliper also features automatic power-off after 5 minutes of inactivity.
  • Unit Conversion (4): Press the "in/mm" button to switch between millimeter (mm) and inch (in) measurement systems. When in inch system, the LCD will display "in".
  • Zero Setting (12): The "ZERO" key allows you to set the display to zero at any position within the measuring range. This is useful for relative measurements.

4.2 Preparing for Measurement

  1. Before use, loosen the fastening screw (5) on the caliper frame.
  2. Gently pull the caliper frame open.
  3. Use a clean, soft cloth to wipe the measuring surfaces and the guiding surface clean.
  4. Check Zero Position: Gently push the caliper frame until the two measuring jaw surfaces are completely closed. The LCD readout should display "zero". If it does not, press the "ZERO" key to set it to zero.

4.3 Measurement Methods

The caliper supports four-way measurement: outside diameter, inside diameter, depth, and step measurement.

Four types of measuring modes: Outside diameter, Inside diameter, Depth, Step
Figure 4: Four Type Measuring Modes
Diagrams illustrating external, internal, depth, and step measurements
Figure 5: Measurement Method Diagrams
  • Outside Diameter Measurement: Fix the outside measuring faces (1) close to the workpiece to be measured.
  • Inside Diameter Measurement: Place the inside measuring jaws (3) into the object and expand them to measure the internal diameter. Ensure the jaws are in the diameter direction and not leaning.
  • Depth Measurement: Place the depth measuring blade (9) vertically with the workpiece's bottom surface.
  • Step Measurement: Use the step measuring faces (2) to measure the height difference between two surfaces.

Direct Measurement: Use the caliper to measure the workpiece directly. The LCD readout will display the measured value directly.

Relative Measurement: Set "zero" when measuring a standard workpiece or sample. Then, measure the new workpiece; the LCD will display the relative measuring value compared to the standard.

4.4 Data Output

The caliper features a data output interface (7). Data can be outputted to a printer or computer for processing and printing, but requires a separate SHAHE Data Output Device (sold separately).

5. Maintenance

  • Avoid exposing the caliper to areas with high dust, direct sunlight, ultraviolet radiation, or high temperatures.
  • Handle the caliper gently; do not drop or crash it.
  • Clean the measuring surface with gasoline or alcohol, ensuring no liquid comes into contact with electronic components or the upper surface of the measuring blade.
  • The recommended usage and test environmental relative humidity is ≤80%.
