4. Setup
4.1 Connection Diagram
Refer to the diagram below for proper connection of the inverter to solar panels, battery, AC input (mains/generator), and home loads. Ensure all connections are secure and follow local electrical codes.

4.2 Parallel Operation
The inverter supports parallel operation for increased power output and phase splitting. Up to 6 units can be connected in parallel. Important: The phase split function (220VAC~240VAC output) can only be used when two or more inverters are connected in parallel. When operating a single inverter, it will only output 110VAC in a single phase.

5. Operating Modes
The inverter offers various charging and output modes to optimize energy usage based on your preferences and grid conditions.
5.1 Charging Modes
Select from four distinct charging modes:
- Solar First: Prioritizes solar power for charging the battery.
- Mains First: Prioritizes grid power for charging the battery.
- Hybrid Charge: Combines solar and mains power for charging.
- Only Solar: Charges the battery exclusively from solar power.
5.2 Output Modes
Choose from four output modes to manage power delivery to your loads:
- Solar First: Prioritizes solar power to supply loads.
- Mains First: Prioritizes grid power to supply loads.
- Inverter First: Prioritizes battery power (via inverter) to supply loads.
- Hybrid Output: Dynamically switches between sources based on availability and settings.
5.3 Peak-Valley Electricity Tariff Function
The inverter supports sectional charging and discharging functions (BT1ST Mode for Mains Charge, AC1ST Mode for Battery Discharge). Users can freely set battery discharge time or mains charging time within three definable periods (00:00 to 23:59) to optimize energy usage according to local electricity tariff standards.

6. Display and Controls
The inverter is equipped with an LCD HD display screen and 3 LED indicators for dynamic display of system data and operating status. The display provides real-time information on battery capacity, load percentage, utility status, generator status, solar power, and home appliance usage.

Control buttons on the unit allow for easy navigation and setting adjustments:
- Enter/Exit Settings: Access or exit the settings menu.
- Option Increase: Increase the value of a selected option.
- Option Decrease: Decrease the value of a selected option.
- OK/Enter Options: Confirm selection or enter a sub-menu.
7. Battery Compatibility
The PowMr POW-SunSmart SP5.2K is compatible with various 48V battery types, including LiFePO4, AGM, Lithium, and Gel batteries. It also supports a battery-less mode, allowing it to power loads directly from PV or the AC grid without a connected battery.
A built-in lithium battery activation function ensures that dormant lithium-ion batteries can be activated, either by mains or photovoltaic power supply.

8. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your inverter. Always disconnect all power sources (PV, battery, AC input) before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the inverter and ventilation openings to prevent dust buildup. Use a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Connections Check: Annually inspect all electrical connections for tightness and signs of corrosion. Re-tighten if necessary.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the inverter's cooling fans and vents are not obstructed. Proper airflow is crucial for heat dissipation.
- Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates to ensure your inverter has the latest features and bug fixes.
- Battery Health: Monitor your battery's health and charge levels regularly, especially if using lead-acid batteries, to ensure they are operating within optimal parameters.
9. Troubleshooting
This section provides general guidance for common issues. For complex problems, contact technical support.
9.1 Common Issues and Solutions
- No Power Output:
- Check AC input breaker and connections.
- Verify battery connections and voltage.
- Ensure PV input is within the operating voltage range.
- Check for any error codes on the LCD display.
- Battery Not Charging:
- Confirm PV array is producing power and connected correctly.
- Check AC input if charging from grid.
- Verify charging current settings on the inverter.
- Inspect battery cables and fuses.
- Inverter Overload:
- Reduce the connected load.
- Check for short circuits in the load wiring.
- If in parallel mode, ensure total load does not exceed combined capacity.
- Error Codes on Display:
- Refer to the detailed error code section in the full user manual (PDF) for specific meanings and troubleshooting steps.
10. User Tips
- Parallel Operation for Split Phase: Remember that the split phase function (220VAC~240VAC output) is only available when two or more inverters are connected in parallel. A single inverter unit will only provide 110VAC output. Plan your system accordingly if you require 220VAC.
- Battery Compatibility: While the inverter supports various 48V battery types, always ensure your chosen battery is compatible and properly configured in the inverter settings for optimal performance and safety.
- Monitoring: Utilize the communication interfaces (USB, RS485, optional WiFi/GPRS) to monitor your system's performance and energy flow. This helps in identifying potential issues early and optimizing settings.
