3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

The multimeter requires 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries (not included). To install:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the cover.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it.

3.2. Connecting Test Leads

Insert the red test lead into the 'INPUT' jack and the black test lead into the 'COM' (common) jack for most measurements.

4. Operating Instructions

The FY107C features intelligent auto-ranging, simplifying operation by automatically identifying and measuring AC/DC voltage, resistance, continuity, and frequency. For other functions, manual selection may be required.

4.3. Function Selection (SEL Button)

Press the 'SEL' button to cycle through different measurement modes if manual selection is needed or to switch between sub-functions within a mode (e.g., AC/DC voltage, diode/continuity).

4.4. Specific Measurements

  • AC/DC Voltage Measurement: Connect test leads in parallel to the circuit. The multimeter will automatically detect AC or DC.
  • Resistance Measurement: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect test leads across the component.
  • Continuity Test: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect test leads across the path. A beep indicates continuity.
  • Capacitance Measurement: Ensure the capacitor is discharged. Connect test leads across the capacitor terminals.
  • Diode Measurement: Ensure the diode is isolated. Connect test leads across the diode.
  • Temperature Measurement (FY107C only): Insert the temperature probe into the appropriate jacks. The display will show temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit. Use the 'SEL' button to switch units.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the multimeter with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: When the low battery indicator appears, replace the batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings. Refer to section 3.1 for battery installation.
  • Storage: Store the multimeter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
  • Test Leads: Inspect test leads regularly for any signs of damage (cracks, frayed insulation). Replace damaged leads immediately.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Faint Display: Check battery installation and charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Incorrect Readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected. Verify the correct measurement mode is selected (if not in auto-ranging). Check for damaged test leads.
  • No Continuity Beep: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Check if the continuity function is active.
  • NCV/Live Wire Not Detecting: Ensure the function is activated. The detection range may vary based on environmental factors.
