4. Setup Instructions

The YM2103 mechanism is designed for easy integration into compatible chair designs. Follow these steps for proper installation:

1. Prepare the Chair Seat: Ensure your chair seat has pre-drilled holes that align with the mounting points on the top plate of the YM2103 mechanism. Refer to the dimension diagram for hole spacing.

2. Attach to Chair Seat: Place the mechanism onto the underside of the chair seat, aligning the mounting holes. Secure the mechanism to the seat using appropriate screws (not always included). Tighten all screws firmly but do not overtighten.
3. Install Gas Lift Cylinder: Insert the top of your chair's gas lift cylinder into the central conical opening on the underside of the YM2103 mechanism. The cylinder should fit snugly into the mechanism's receiver.

5. Operating Instructions

The YM2103 mechanism features intuitive handle controls for various adjustments:

• Height Adjustment: To adjust the seat height, pull the handle labeled 'LIFT' (typically the right-hand handle) upwards. While holding the handle, lift your weight off the seat to raise it, or remain seated to lower it. Release the handle to lock the seat at the desired height.

• Tilt/Recline Adjustment: To enable or disable the tilt function, pull the other handle (typically the left-hand handle) outwards. Pulling it out will allow the chair to tilt, while pushing it in will lock the chair in an upright position.
• Tilt Tension Adjustment: The round knob located at the front of the mechanism (as seen in Figure 5.1) controls the tension of the tilt function. Turn the knob clockwise to increase tilt tension (making it harder to recline) or counter-clockwise to decrease tension (making it easier to recline). Adjust to your personal comfort.
