5.2 Initial Placement and Measurement

Place the radon detector in an area where you suspect radon accumulation, such as basements, garages, or poorly ventilated rooms. For accurate readings, allow the device to operate for at least 6 hours for the first data display and 1 hour for reliable data measurement. Radon concentrations can vary, so continuous monitoring is recommended.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Button Functions

Figure 7: Key Description
  • Left Arrow Button: Tap to modify the target selection to the left or up.
  • Center Button (Play/Pause): Long press to turn the device on or off. Short press to confirm function selection.
  • Right Arrow Button: Tap to modify the target selection to the right or down.

6.2 Understanding the Display

The high-definition color screen displays real-time and accumulated data:

  • Last 6h: Average radon concentration over the last 6 hours.
  • Monitoring: Indicates active radon monitoring.
  • Accumulated AVG: Long-term average radon concentration.
  • Total Count: Total number of radon decay events detected.
  • Temperature: Current ambient temperature (in °C or °F).
  • Humidity: Current ambient relative humidity (in %).

The display also features a colorful progress bar that indicates different color zones based on the radon concentration value, providing a quick visual reference.

6.3 Alarm Function

The device features an audible and visual alarm. The alarm value can be set by the user. If the radon concentration exceeds the set limit, the alarm will activate for 20 seconds every 10 minutes. The particle sound of the alarm can be turned off via settings if desired.

6.4 Radon Concentration Limits and Actions

Different organizations provide guidelines for acceptable radon levels. The device defaults to a limit of 148 Bq/m³ (4 pCi/L).

StandardConcentration LimitRecommendation
China Standards≤150 Bq/m³Increase ventilation if exceeded.
United States (EPA) Standards≤4 pCi/L (≤148 Bq/m³)Increase ventilation if exceeded.
WHO Recommended Standards≤100 Bq/m³Corrective action strongly recommended at levels >300 Bq/m³.
European (EURATOM) Standards≤300 Bq/m³Increase ventilation if exceeded.

The simplest way to reduce indoor radon concentration is to increase indoor ventilation. When the radon concentration exceeds 4 pCi/L (148 Bq/m³), ventilate for at least 10 minutes or more.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the casing or screen.

7.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Recharge the battery when the low battery indicator appears. If storing the device for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% and store it in a cool, dry place.

7.3 Storage

Store the device within its operating range of -10℃ to 45℃ and relative humidity below 90%. Storing outside this range may affect its performance and accuracy.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the device is placed in a stable environment within the specified operating range (-10℃ to 45℃, RH<90%). Allow sufficient time (at least 1 hour) for readings to stabilize.
  • Device Not Turning On: Check battery level and charge the device if necessary. Ensure the center button is long-pressed correctly.
  • Alarm Constantly Triggering: Check the current radon concentration on the display. If high, increase ventilation in the area. You may adjust the alarm threshold in the settings or temporarily turn off the particle sound if needed.
  • Screen Issues: If the screen is unresponsive or displaying incorrectly, try restarting the device by long-pressing the center button.

10. User Tips

  • Initial Readings: For the most accurate initial assessment, allow the device to run for at least 6 hours to display the first data and 1 hour for reliable data measurement after placement.
  • High Radon Levels: If the device indicates radon levels exceeding 4 pCi/L (148 Bq/m³), immediately increase ventilation in the area by opening windows and doors for at least 10 minutes.
  • Maximize Battery Life: Utilize the screen sleep function to extend the battery operating time up to approximately 45 days.
  • Optimal Placement: Place the detector in living areas, especially on lower floors or basements, where radon is more likely to accumulate. Avoid placing it near drafts, heat sources, or in direct sunlight, which can affect temperature and humidity readings.
